Developer edition is unlocked. GPe is stock android with Google provided updates.
GPe devices are unlocked as well. GPe devices are sold by Google thru the Play Store. Developer Edition devices are sold by maufacturers directly or via retail stores. Only difference between the two.

Yes. Take the Moto X Developer Edition for example, stock OS and unlocked.

Historically we have had manufacturers sell developer edition phones in the US that were just unlocked (boot loader) versions of their carrier locked counterparts. That is changing. I guess there still might be some out there that are like that.

Developer edition are not stock android, it's just a normal edition of the phone with an unlocked bootloader. Moto X and Moto X developer Edition have the same Android OS, it's just that Motorola's Android version is very close to stock. By stock android, Sushubh means the OS straight from Google without any manufacturer customizations.

Yup. Developer's editions are not stock Android. They are just devices sold at no-contract prices with unlocked bootloaders and they are supported by the manufacturers not Google.
GPe devices are unlocked of course and has stock Android and they are supported by Google.

I am not so sure. By default they should have a warranty. But would the warranty would still be applicable if the phones are actually used with custom ROMs? Would have to check.

the point here is that developer phones are targeted at users who want to run custom ROMs on their phones. but it sounds stupid that the warranty would be voided if the user does exactly that.
