Landline Instrument Recommendations

so i had to buy another landline phone for a relative this week. the Panasonic model i had got for him last year had started malfunctioning. bought a motorola this time around. tried it at my place. seems to be nice.

Motorola CT202i Corded Phone With Caller ID & Speaker Phone

what i like about this phone is the solid motorola build quality. display has a decent size. does not require cells. which sadly means no backlight. buttons are large and wide. though i am not a fan of configuring it. had to refer to manual to set clock, set up quick dialing numbers etc. There is a R button on the device but that's not for Redial! Does not really do anything as it is for a feature that is only applicable with 'some exchanges'. Ringtone options are a mess. There are 24 but just around 5-6 are usable. Rest are just painful to hear. Voice is loud and clear.

This is the Panasonic model that went kaput in around a year time:

Panasonic KX-TSC62SXB Corded Landline Phone

Display is quite small but I was able to configure it without consulting the manual.

incoming call gets cut as soon as the receiver is picked up (occasionally). could possibly be a wiring issue. but fufaji is not happy with quality of the voice and size of the display so asked me to get him a new unit.

though i found the moto way too loud on the receiver. that could become a problem as there is no volume control for that 😀

Panasonic is the only decent cordless phone around but its not really that great, they should atlease add normal AA battery, AAA last 2 days here with enelopee, the one the phone came with was not good so its another Rs 400 or so over price of instrument.

some cordless models support multiple units. so you can place the second unit on the different floor and the connection i believe is completely wireless.

Ya but it's much easier and faster when using a separate battery charger, just need to keep 2 spare rechargeable batteries.
