Here goes my saga:After a looong looong wait BSNL Broadband finally arrived in my area (Hingne Kh, Simhagad Road, Pune).A person (claims does not work for BSNL) comes and installs the modem (Huawei). He does not bring the user id and password. Tests the connection using his 512 Kbps test user id testone@data.... and gives me a Pune phone number 020-25459000/1 saying that I will get my user/pass from that number. Ideally they should call me by evening he claims. That was a dampner iteself.I do not get a call and I call that number and its is continously engaged. And I mean really continiously. I call up the Toll free number 1600..... and they again give me the same 25459000/1 number. Some how i get hold of the 25459000 number and the person at the other end refuses to accept that they are supposed to give the password. Says I will get the password from Pune Camp Exchange and literally hangs up on me!!!! I call up my exchange at Hingne, Sinhagad road and they dont really know who installed the dataone modem for me?????? + the lady was damn rude!!!I am really at my split ends. So i am asking for help here. Anyone from Pune who had similar horrid experience? Or maybe a good experience? Can somebody guide me as to whom to contact in Pune for this userid/ password? I read a couple of forums here and I did try out all the combos of passwords mentioned but to no luck. Please Help. TIA.Danny.

Pls excuse me for my typos.

The people who are sitting next to the phones are idiots.Get off your ass and drive down to the BSNL exchange/office and talk to the managers there yourselfI had to go back and forth between the BSNL exchange and the BSNL billing office and continuously call the engineer's (I got the direct number from the manager at the exchange) to get them to install my NEW landline and DataOne together within ONE WEEK. (in Bangalore)Just remember to be polite don't act snooty they will help... You just got to manage it on your own by reminding them all the time (politely) if you dont get something on time...Just a hint of why they can be so unresponsive... there are idiots who fill out forms incorrectly and send it to BSNL, I saw some forms with missing phone numbers or incomplete addresses, some people using old paper forms etc...

In Calcutta there is a central broadband control room from where they assign passwords. In fact they call me every now and then to enquire how the broadband connection is working. I guess they called no less than 30 times! They have also given a local phone no. and an email no. for communication. Also after the installation, I communicated several times over email and he actually took actions regarding my problem on the basis of my emails. That's quite good service for BSNL. You can call their 24 hrs. call center for broadband at 16004241600 to enquire abt. ur password. Its quite hard to get the line though. Its perpetually busy.

well, you got to be polite and remind the officers as far as obtaining the connection goes.. but the service in kolkata is great. officers are responsive, polite, helpful and have the knack of serving subscribers. Still if one dosen't get userid, one should obtain the telno. of regional broadband cell, mention submission date, telno., name and the process of obtaining the connection to get answered. hope BSNL serves the rest of the country as they do in kolkata.

Ok I finally got my user id and password and the speed is also very good. Too bad for the 1 GB limit. 🙁I have one queston though: Since I got this connection on 23rd April, do I need to consume my 1 GB by 30th April?? Or does my month start from 23rd itself.TIA.

Did u apply before 31st March? Then BSNL would not charge u if you exceed 1 GB till 30th June. I already downloaded 20 GB+ in one month.About the billing, BSNL portal shows the online time of the users. It seems that their billing period is from 20th of a month to the 19th of the next. My records for April 2005 shows the details of my logins from 20th March to 19th Apr.

Looks like trouble on the horizon, I think I'll cancel my BSNL for a few months when the unlimited period gets over... to see if people get ridiculous bills and overcharges and what not hehe...

Hi DannyBox, the situation that you are facing was also with me. The BSNL finally gave the connection on 13th April and the question which is in your mind was in mind also i.e. whether the 1GB limit will apply in my case. But I think, Hulo has rightly said that till 30th June all the donwload limit is unlimited. So do not think again and go on downloading and downlloading and down....

Thanks guys for the response. Hulo, can you give me the link for checking out my online time at BSNL portal?

I think this month it shall be pro rata for you. Best is to ignore all that and enjoy the speed and access of the same.

This IP number is diferent for each city and so its best to go thru FAQ for your cities Service Provider. The one given by our friend is for Chennai.

I have written to BSNL and asked them to furnish the URL for the same to me ASAP. Ill post it here when I get it.

But I had been given the same IP No. for the BSNL Dataone Portal by BSNL personnel over phone. I can access my details using my username and password thru that site. The email no. assigned by BSNL is in the form username@dataone.in and that should be unique within the BSNL Dataone network, and I guess the same username and password is used to log in to the portal. I think the portal IP is the same all over India.
