Wanted to let others know how to setup existing or new Belkin wireless router (I had N300) with the Hathway high-speed cable internet using Docsis modem (brand Cisco DPC3008). I just got this service and spend about 6-7 hours researching and finally figuring out how to do this and it was very easy at the end.
So first, make sure your Hathway router connects with WIRE to some PC and your connection is good. I was impressed with 50 MBPS connection. Excellent Hathway.
- then bring in your Belkin wireless router in between (from cable to Hathway -> Belkin -> PC).
- Now my PC kept saying No network connection.
You could bring up the browser, and type 192.168.1.1 to get into Belkin's setup mode (if this doesn't work, try 192.168.2.1).
This is required for rest of the setup of the wireless modem.
- set the SSID, and password (strongly recommended to avoid anyone else using using WIFI connection)
- go to the MAC address page, and click on "CLONE" to clone the mac address of the source.
- Restart the Router.
That's it. As simple as that. Isn't it? But I had to dig quite a bit to get this so thought of posting here for all of you.
