Delhi Metro Updates

lol so you don't really recharge. you just pay and then load your card at the metro station? lol.

cant wait for bullet train 😀

hey wait, on this trip to Delhi the biggest mistake I did was to try the online payment to top-up the metro card.
Was almost out of cash and topped it online, as in earlier post but that was not showing in account when asked ticket counter
Bought another new one,
Next day went to several stations and asked several windows, not a single one had any idea what I did with it. I was asking them to where do i Locate
this hidden AVM machine (its add value machine), some say, its at central secretariat, some shahdhara, some on moon, some on mars.
I told in as simple words that I added Rs.100/- using dmrc website, but he stopped me saying, minimum add value is Rs.200/- I had to
tell him check your own website and then sit here, this was not just one window but everywhere.
Secondly they never knew one could add cash via Internet using debit/credit cards.
Thirdly they checked on phone with some other concerned person but said machine may be out of service.
And I even saved this Page from Metro Website to Show the PIC of this Magical AVM to every staff I talked to
Frustrated enough and having spent value on card already, I bought a Token from Nehru Place to Noida.
and from Rajiv Chowk boarded a wrong direction metro
go down at Ram Krishna ashram and was on way to other platform using stairs when to my Utmost SURPRISE
I saw the AVM machine, HURRAY, wow, I AM the KING OF THE WORLD, I saved myself from becoming a ZOMBIE
and rushed to the AVM, it was ON, I touched my card, touched "add value" and SKY TURNED into LED Lights, and Rain Started coming up from ground
fairies started singing and with a Beethoven playing off every speaker,
Value was added successfully, some part I don't remember, may be above needs to be edited.
Uffff, so Lessons Learned,
I WILL NEVER ADD VALUE to DMRC Card Online, one would be pi**ed off in location a AVM which is needed to complete transaction.
so if you are using the card, why not pay the DAMN, Rs.200/- and get it done right away on Token Vending Machine which sucks your notes very attractively.

Metro commuters travelling in the Capital can recharge their smart card through ‘Token Vending Machines’ for as little as Rs. 100 again with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation reversing its earlier decision to make it Rs. 200.

However, the minimum amount of Rs. 100 and subsequent add value of Rs. 50 is available only through the 170 token vending machines peppered across 83 Metro stations in the city. Commuters will still have to shell out a minimum amount of Rs. 200 if they are topping up their smart cards by visiting a Customer Care centre with subsequent top ups of value of Rs. 100.

Delhi Metro scam: Alstom charged with 3 million euros 'bribery' - Hindustan Times

Britain’s Serious Fraud Office (SFO) on Tuesday placed charges in court against engineering major Alstom Network UK Ltd related to bribing officials and agents of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to the tune of over 3 million euros to secure contracts.

The hearing in the case, which began in the Westminster Magistrates' Court, will have its next hearing in the Southwark Crown Court on 6 October.

Of the six charges filed against the company in court, two relate to the DMRC contract, and the rest to its activities in Poland and Tunisia.

The SFO charge is that certain directors of Alstom “did corruptly give or agree to give payments to an official or officials or other agents” of the DMRC to secure the contracts between 1 August 2000 and 9 August 2006.

Passengers need to send a SMS from their mobile phones to 9222208888 using the number registered with the bank account.

The SMS needs to provide the DMRC card ID (on the back of the smart card), amount for topping up, and last six digits of ICICI bank account.

"Once SMS is processed, passenger will get the confirmatory message from ICICI Bank. After this, the passenger needs to go to one of the 71 Metro stations, show the smart card at the Add Value Machine to complete the process," a Delhi Metro statement said.

Still need to visit a station to complete the process. They are never going to learn. If one can stand in front of a machine to recharge, one can damn well stand in a smallish queue to recharge as well. There is nothing convenient about it

Holy fucking cow. DMRC can indeed fail at something.

The court, which directed the DMRC to examine viability of having spittoons and dustbins on the stations, also asked whether drinking water and toilet facilities were easily available to commuters. "Don't you have dustbins at airports and bus stations? Can you protect people by not having dustbins? This is a very myopic view of security," Justice Rajiv Shakdher said.

The court then directed the DMRC to indicate on an affidavit how many toilets and drinking water facilities are available at the metro stations and whether the amenities are generally accessible to commuters.

The court also issued notice to the Centre, Delhi government and the DMRC, seeking their replies by August 11, the next date of hearing. The orders and observations came on plea of Kush Kalra, a metro commuter who has sought directions to the DMRC to provide safe drinking water, toilets and dustbin facilities to the passengers of Delhi metro.
