Check HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3545 Deals on: Flipkart | Amazon | Snapdeal | Infibeam

---

My aging HP Photosmart 8158 printer finally gave up yesterday and sister needs printer frequently now a days. I already had HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3545 AIO Printer in mind. Finally bought it today for 6k from a known vendor who supplies computer products to our company. This printer retails at 6.7k on Flipkart, so this was an excellent deal. Some features mentioned below.
  • Wireless connectivity.
  • HP Ink Advantage cartridges (HP 678 Black and Color)
  • HP ePrint support.
  • Apple Airprint support.
  • HP Wireless Direct support.
  • Automatic print on both sides support.
  • Scan through web portal.
Took a couple of prints and all were good enough. The automatic print on both sides amazed me as I have seen this only on high end laser printers. Scanned some old photos and it looks great too. Printouts fired from my mobile/tablet works fine using the native print support in android 4.4 but the print comes comparatively slower which is probably because it prints on 'Normal' or 'Best' mode and in mobile I couldn't find an option to toggle this.

Overall a pretty solid printer for the price.

For someone with a very low usage - Does Inktank printer make sense? There are many occasions when I take a bunch, but otherwise my cartridge lasts 7-8 months on an average, maybe more.

not having to worry about discarding your color cartridge with a single print with one dominant color is comforting enough. plus for some reason i have been having pretty crappy luck with my inkjets. two cartridges literally shat the second time i tried printing through them. brand new legit cartridge.

I did not mention but I have stopped buying color cartridges in the last 3-4 years - Just replacing the black one and rolling with that. Its been 7.5 years overall.

As of now I'm paying more or less 1.5k on cartridges every year, and I reuse them by refilling them myself at home. A dent of 10k is going to hurt more right now. The printer is 6+ years old, but works absolutely fine. Since I've already placed the cartridge order through HP. Let's wait for another year.

So the printer isn't letting me print using the black cartridge, it says that "it must be replaced".

I have not even used it that much, and just last year I got the color cartridge.

I am not even printing that much for the amount I would be spending on cartridges. Really pissed off.

Installed new cartridge, and it said "genuine cartridges installed", and became unresponsive. Now same error again. "The following ink cartridges are not intended for use in this.."

Hey I am probably mistaken but do you think you can install custom firmware on it and bypass all these? Some printers allow us to install Firmware. When HP started giving people pain about Cartridges, some people wrote custom firmware for it.

I guess Github must have something

Haven't been able to find any custom firmware yet. In my case there seems to be a hardware issue. Will have to visit Nehru Place.
