Check D-Link DSL-2750U Deals on: Flipkart | Amazon | Snapdeal | Infibeam

I'd actually already posted on how to use the D-Link 2750u as a full fledged Ethernet WAN router, but it was a few pages deep in a Tikona thread and some users were getting the actual method mixed up with workarounds posted earlier in that thread.

The 2750u is actually capable of both adsl and Ethernet WAN routing. However the Indian firmware only enables the adsl WAN. So one needs to use the Middle East (ME) or Russian (NRU) firmware to enable the Ethernet WAN function (with the ME/Russian firmware one can use adsl, ethernet or 3g WAN). Please check the label under your router to identify the specific hardware version and apply the firmware that corresponds to it. Warning: You may brick your router if you apply the wrong firmware. Presently ME firmware is available for C1 and U1 versions. NRU firmware is available for C1. The NRU firmware has the mac cloning feature so you need not ask your provider to reset the mac lock (if mac lock is present). Here are the links

ME C1 v1.3

ME C1 latest

In the latest firmware, I'm having a problem getting my 3g dongle to work, which is why I've posted both versions. Once the firmware has been changed to the ME type, one can easily switch between versions (of the same hw type) using the software update page and one can choose which version works best for them.

ME U1

6.52 MB file on MEGA (Use 7zip/Winrar etc to extract firmware)

NRU C1

Applying the firmware

The firmware may not be accepted in the normal firmware update mode. Then you'll need to update it in the dlink crash recovery mode using a LAN cable (not wirelessly). Assign a static address on the PC for the ethernet interface in the 192.168.1.x series for eg 192.168.1.5

Switch router off, press the reset button ie insert ballpoint pen in reset hole under the router, keep holding the reset button and turn on the router. Keep holding the reset button for about 12 seconds after you power on the router. Now you'll see that the power led has turned red signifying that the router is in crash recovery mode. When you enter the address 192.168.1.1 on your PC browser, you find the upgrade firmware page. Just browse to the downloaded firmware file and flash!

After the new firmware has been flashed, your internet connection will not start working automatically, you will also need to set up the router correctly. Please do not apply any workarounds mentioned in other threads such as interface grouping, disabling DHCP etc

Instructions for setting up the C1 hw version router with ME firmware

Step 1:
Log into your router and under Advanced setup->Layer2 interface->ETH interface create an Ethernet interface with connection mode as default. Then go to Advanced setup->WAN Service and add service for eth0/LAN4.

Step2: If you have an internet connection with pppoe dialing such as pacenet, Honesty etc, in the next page, choose pppoe and put in username, password and service name in the next page. Also choose to enable NAT. In the next page move eth0 from available to selected gateway interface (if it's not already in selected) and remove ppp0 (if present) from selected, in the next page do the same for DNS and finally apply/save. Do thisonly if you have both eth0 and ppp0 appearing in the setup, else let ppp0 remain in selected.

Step2 (alt): If you have a connection such as Tikona, Reliance metro, cable internet (without pppoe dialer) etc, in the next page choose ip over ethernet, in the next page let the setting remain at Obtain an IP address automatically, in the next page check option to enable NAT, in the next page move eth0 from available to selected gateway interface (if it's not already in selected) and remove ppp0 (if present) from selected, in the next page do the same for DNS and finally apply/save. Do this only if you have both eth0 and ppp0 appearing in the setup, else let ppp0 remain in selected.

Step3: Then in advanced setup - 3g connection select primary uplink as ethernet.

Now connect your internet cable to the LAN port 4 of the router and you should be able to connect through any device connected through wifi or any of the other LAN ports. If you have a connection with a browser login such as Reliance metro or Tikona, the login page will show up only on the first device that you connect in each session. After you have logged in on any device, all other devices will have internet connectivity without going through the login page.

Instructions for setting up the U1 hw version router

In Internet setup, set WAN access type to Ethernet and in protocol, choose dynamic ip for connection such as Tikona, Reliance metro, cable broadband (without pppoe dialer) etc and choose pppoe if you have a pppoe dialer based connection such as pacenet, honesty net solutions etc. When setting up the internet connection, vlan id must not be given any value other than 0.

Instructions for setting up the C1 hw version router with NRU firmware (Port 1 is WAN port)

After you flash the interface will appear in Russian. Click on the rightmost dropdown at the top of the page and choose English to change the interface language.

Click on Advanced Settings at the bottom
Click on Interface Grouping in the Advanced section. Right click on the LAN icon on the right and click on setup speed and stream. There's some quirk in the interface and it's a little tricky getting this click right. Set duplex and speed to auto and save. Again hover mouse over LAN graphic and click on Make WAN. With the default option of 'Single service...' click save. Go back to the advanced settings screen. In the Net section click on WAN and add a connection. Choose connection type accordingly and choose LAN as the interface. Change MAC if required (if provider uses mac lock), (mac cloning doesn't seem to work) put in other details as needed (make sure NAT stays enabled) and click save. Internet cable goes into port 1 and not port 4 as in the case of the ME firmware
If your provider uses a mac id lock, plug in the internet cable in port 4 (port 1 for Russian fw) after completing the setup and ask him to register the new mac in his database.
Any users seeking help on this thread, please provide all relevant details (provider, type of connection) and screenshots (info and setup). Also please make absolutely sure that it's not a mac lock issue, as many users are needlessly seeking help on the forum without having got a proper mac reset from their provider.

(changing firmware will void your warranty and it is not recommended by D-Link)

FOR V2 VERSION (also for V1),

You can use H/W Ver. V1 F/W Ver.1.03_ME from Middle East site

STEP 1: Download Firmware
D-Link
http://dlinkmea.com/partner/media/p...B-B-DL-DSL2750U-R5B013-ME.EN_2T2R_update).img

(This will show your H/W as Ver. V1 for ver. V2 )

STEP 2: Apply Firmware
USE ONLY WIRED CONNECTION
Method 1:
Just browse to the downloaded firmware file and flash!

if this method doesnt work for you then only choose method 2 and dont forget to assign static address for ethernet
Method 2(worked for me):
Log into your router and
go to MANAGEMENT>>FIRMWARE UPDATE
or
http://192.168.1.1/cgi-bin/webproc?...&var:menu=maintenance&var:page=firmwareupdate
and
choose downloaded file and
click on update Firmware

STEP 3: Applying Settings for ethernet
Setup Wizard>>next>>tick Automatically synchronize with Internet time server>>next>>select ethernet
select your protocol (for me PPPoE) and proceed accordingly to your settings
(for protocol and other Internet settings call your ISP, they can help you with this)
after applying settings put your ethernet cable to PORT 4 only and
Reboot
That's it!! You have done it 😛arty:

NOTE:
1. If not getting connected, call your ISP and tell them to reset your mac id.
2. ServiceName cannot be changed and this will not affect your connection (I hope, this problem will be solved in next firmware version)
3. If you are not using 3G and Samba connection for usb, disable/delete those settings

Thank You Manoj and participants of this thread, your comments really helped me a lot..
I hope this will be useful for V2 and V1 owners

Hi Manoj.
My D-Link 2750u is V1 H/W. I can't install anyof the firmwares which you have provided because mine is diff. Please help

Dear pSYduck :
Thanks for your valuable information. I just followed your instructions and clicked on your firmware download link and it worked. I could get everything except internet. So as you suggested I went to my service provider (local cablewala) and told them to reset Mac Id. They obliged and bang came my internet connection on my D-Link 2750U. (H/W : V1).
But, last week, my internet service provider told me it is impossible. He took my router and checked at his place and told me that since service name cannot be changed, nothing can be done and told me to discard this modem. This modem is fit only for MTNL ADSL connection. Even D-Link customer support told similar. As a matter of fact my Cablewala sold me a Digisol router along with new broadband connection. I told them that I have read in India broadband forum website that it is possible. He said I am a fool to follow all these advice. He thus misled me.
I went to return the Digisol Modem. He is refusing to take it back despite misleading me that my old router will not work in ethernet mode. Since local cablewala is a Dada in our area, seems nothing can be done.
Anyway service provider told me that once Mac Id is reset it will work on only one modem. If you change modem in future you have to again reset.

ISP/cablewalas dont have all info about every router. If anyone look at this router he/she will obviously say that it wont work since there is only one input which is not for RJ45 / LAN cable. But this is not true. We use one of the output port(4) as input port for rj45 cable which does the trick.

1. First setup the router without conneting to line
2. connect router to the internet line
3. Call directly to ISP to reset MAC id (tell them you have changed the router or anything which will work in your case)
4. Router will connect after resetting mac id

SERVICENAME IS JUST A NAME TO IDENTIFY THE SETTINGS IN ROUTER WHICH HAVE NO RELATION WITH ISP, AS THIS ROUTER CAN BE SETUP FOR DONGLE AND ADSL ALSO. SO THIS SERVICENAME DOESNOT MATTER AT ALL.

Good Luck with cablewala

attached my modem screenshots to prove that it works

Hi All,

Thanks for the wonderful post. I flashed the 1.09_ME version and i am able to connect to ACT internet with PPoE setting. After connecting i was getting speed of only 0.7 mbps. The reason is by default QOS is getting enabled when we flash this firmware. I just disabled the QOS and all settings related to QOS. Now i get 20mbps in wireless and LAN. But still my LAN port should support atleast 100 mbps. I am still trying to figuring out. Any inputs will be appreciated.

Thank You for the detailed guide. I successfully ran it for a year using.

1. BSNL connection.
2. Wired iBall modem ADSL2.
3. LAN from modem to 2750U LAN4.
4. Perfectly working as an ethernet router using IP over Ethernet. I entered my id pass in iBall modem and gave the internet connection to D-Link by LAN port. This setup was working for a year or so.

Now I discarded the iBall modem and bought TP-Link 8968 modem. I entered id pass in TPlink and fed it to Dlink using LAN to LAN4.
As i made no changes to Dlink, i am not getting internet access. Same setup and i always used to get internet access by iBall modem.

I know i am using BSNL and still getting internet using IP over ethernet as id pass is entered in main modem and not in Dlink.

Can anyone guide me why my TPlink and Dlink combo is not working?anything I am missing? I have 2 units of 2750U and it doesnt work with it also.

I have 2750u C1 version. Installed RRRRussiam firmware. Even though this firmware looks good, it's very heavy and laggy and I have to keep disabling enabling the lan from computer to get to the admin panel. Anyway I tried adding WAN connection which obviously didn't work. MAC cloning really doesn't work on russian firmware. To add the WAN connection it's better to use the wizard from the quick settings page (instead of advance), once you get to the stage when the last icon on router which looks like a globe turns red, you need to call your ISP to catch the new MAC address (which will be your router's default MAC). Only after that it will turn green and you will get internet.

Hi Manoj,
I have been using 2750U with ADSL,but recently switched to Jio and i would like to know if it is possible to use D-Link 2750u as repeater to extend range of my mobile hotspot?

I installed ME version on my router DSL 2750 C1 version. I had to struggle for setting it right. I am using Railwire internet. But Now it works smoothly. NRU software seems to be not working right for me. Happy with ME version. Can anyone tell whether DLNA can be set up on the router.

Flashed with NRU everything is working fine. I am getting approx 49-50 Mbps speed using ethernet port of router but when using WiFi getting 20-30 Mbps. could you guys tell me if anything need to be done in wireless setting. Thanks

I've a question... There is a NEW Version 2 for the same router...

My question is if I share the internet using the in built (any of the) LAN ports then can I use UltraVNC to control my headless download rig.... Right now I am using a crossover Cat6 cable to connect the headless rig & then sharing its connection with my 2nd PC... No switch/hub right now..

Thanks a lot for this post. Was able to convert my 2750U (V1) into DHCP ethernet router. Using it with Hathway now. Working great.

I have same modem (2750u, HW: V1 and FW:IN_1.02). I already flashed it with ME1.03 firmware
I'm using pppoe dialing (pacenet) connection. My connection provider says to put "qualityinternet" as service name in pppoe setting as shown below
Capture.png

But I'm unable to edit service name in setting page of my modem like following
Capture.png

So I cannot use it. Can anyone please help with it?
Thanks in advance.

Anyone find solution to this issue?
