Active Services/software Upgrade

Please state your info here, this will give all of us a better idea of software updates and active services.

STB and Software:
- KAON 260 STB
- Boot Loader 2.1.8
- Software Version 1.18 (31 Dec 2005)

Interface
- I get the yellow interface.
- I don't see "active services" in the menu

Active
- Red button does not give me any active services.
- For active news, I get multiple audio when I press the audio lang button - there are 8 different audio streams, all are different. I have not tried to find out if it is the audio of other news channels.
- Active Sports, I see 8 audio streams as above, but only one works. I have not tested this during live games.

Notes:
A mail to helpdesk did not bother with telling me new version#, but stated "if menu has changed from what it was previously, then the software has been upgraded"

From most reviews online, the software upgrade "dumbs down" the interface, and a lot of functionality is taken off.Active news is the only + point, but obviously, you can only see 8 channels together, hear only one at a timeActive sports is available only for some games

I have also got STB Zenega 2005S.

No software upgrade could by done by DISHTV (which is being done by AIR) reason better known to them till end of Dec-2006

Finaly I went to dealer & requested to get the software upgraded, though there was Risk to STB (Complete failure) was involved.

Dealer charged me Rs. 150.00 and upgraded the STB through a Data Cable from another STB already upgraded.

Succesfully the STB got upgraded with new Software Version 2.45 & the STB is working properly.

Only when this software upgradation is happended you will be able to enjoy the Active Services.

People need to be made aware of DishTV's pathetic customer support which is almost non existent. I'm not exaggerating but i have yet to come across any customer who has had his problem solved through the customer support. :mellow:

that was the sole reason why i did not go for dish tv when the cable guy was being a pain in the ass in my colony in chandigarh.

a problem here...seems like somebody turned off the tv when upgrading..now its stuck in upgrade message ..what should i do now? 🙁

Lol..its ok when i checked in the morning....phew!! might be everyone facing that problem yesterday night.

Seems DishTV has added lots of Active Services like Active sports,news,movies,games etc. Is it true - are these services good

News active is not so good as Tata Sky DTH. Other active services are something useful. DishTV is eliminating bogus channels like God TV, Goal TV, Nepal 1 TV etc., we are not sorry for that but they are not adding most popular channels like Star Ananda, Kolkata TV, Tara Bangla, Sahara One etc.

Meh, I'm only sticking with crappy Dish TV because they have the channel ' Boomerang' exclusive to them. I can't do without the old toons the channel gives.Lots of channels in Dish TV during night prime time (8pm onwards) start lagging. Most notiecable - Reality TV, HBO and Cartoon Network.Dish TV sucks.

I too have a Zenega box. I too don't get active services. I want to upgrade to new software. My dealer does not provide this service.
It will be useful if someone can give me information about where and how to get it.
