Hello,
Has Anyone used (tried) , the 8 mbps plan in Mulund East (Mithagar) Area ? This plan is being offered on normal DSL . Does it give promised speed ?
I think I am exactly 1 km travel wise from the exchange but I am not sure how to measure 1 km ? Is it the length of the line or something ?
T
Thanks in advance for any reply !

1km travel wise = 1.6-1.8km atleast cabling wise! if your line is good you might get 7mbits. the only to figure out is to try ! 😛

Thanks for your reply. Currently I am on a 2 Mbps plan with below parameters (modem) . Is this good enough for a 8 Mbps speed ?
SNR : 35 db (downstream)
Line Attenuation : 26 db (downstream).
it does show Max Attainable rate above 8 Mbps.

Looks good....... for 8Mbps.......
U should try using ADSL2+ modulation to chk ur Max Rate........

Thanks .. Sorry I dont exactly know how to try using ADSL2+ modulation ? Is it in Advanced Mode / ADSL Mode = ADSL2+ (Earlier it was Auto Sync up)... Should I also adjust ADSL Type option ?

Auto sync up is fine. It defaults to adsl2+
OK , then I checked & it shows Max Attainable Rate as 20065 (Downstream) .. I think I should go ahead & apply for 8 Mbps plan then ?
I have already read visiting the exchange is best so will do that this saturday . But I have also read that it needs chasing 🙁 as the speed upgrades dont happen on their own ?
Any tips for change of plan procedure ?
Once changed , I will post my speed results .

I went today to the exchange. I clearly mentioned in the Written application that I wanted DSL_8Mbps_1050.
When I got a call back from the same lady , I told her thrice that I want 8 Mbps 1050 plan and NOT the 2 Mbps one (Xpress_Combo_1050) . And Yet she changed it to Xpress_Combo_1050
What a FRUSTRATING experience. Why does this happen with soo many of them with MTNL !! What is the use of mentioning thrice and even in WRITING !!
Cant they read ??? 😛issed-off: 🙁 🙁
What do I do next ??? !

What does the portal say?
It says "Xpress_UL_Combo_1050" ... I spoke to someone at exchange.. he seemed helpful... he said he will change it .. fingers crossed ..
That helpful guy indeed solved my problem 🙂 🙂 .... By evening I was migrated to 8 Mbps plan & given the speed profile for modem. Here is my test :

Thanks everyone for the help 🙂

I need help to understand my modem stats , I dont face any problem as such.
But my upstream CRC seem to be crazy & how can my downstream power be 0 :numbness: ? I am not aware of what CRC really is , but I heard its bad to have it high in number ?
Why is my downstream power 0 ?
SNR Margin : 20.8 6.6 dbLine Attenuation : 27 15.4 dbData Rate : 8192 1183 kbpsAttainable Rate : 18772 1184 kbpsPOWER : 0 11.3 dbmCRC : 22 65504

am sry....... I cant rly help u with CRC errors since mine is always at 0....... so either my router doesnt record errors or it doesnt want to...... but yes...... those errors r on the higher side....... maybe try ADSL2+ with Annex M......
Rest of ur stats r good...... u should hav uninterrupted 8Mbps connection with ur stats.......
Also ignore the Power stats.......

CRC errors means only one thing. Line issue. Check if your line has no exposed joints. Even better, install a new line from junction box of your building to your ADSL modem.
