Deepak,
I have bSNL broadband. I am able to connect directly using the network cable. I tried setting up the wireless router so that I can connect my laptop wirelessly but failed to do so. The IP address currently configured for wired access is as listed below:

IP: 192.168.1.12
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.1.1
Promary DNS: 192.168.1.1

I triped all possible options to configure the wireless router but get no signal from the same. Please help me in installing the wireless router. The one I have is Netgear WPN824V2 802.11G wireless router.

PLease guide me in setting up the wireless router. I did not get any help from BSNL yet. You can also mail me the instructions at cmishra@inautix.com
Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Chinmaya.

Here are a few simple steps:

[*]Change the default password to log into your wireless router as well as DSL modem.
[*]Change your SSID (Name of your wireless network) and also go into your wireless router settings and disable SSID broadcasting.
[*]Use some form of encryption - WEP/WPA -google it if you don't understand it.
[*]If you really want to be extra sure, you can secure your network by limiting the MAC addresses (i.e. unique IDs of network cards that can access the network) but if you have done the above this is not that necessary.
[/list]

Limiting usage via ADSL router has nothing to do with your OS version, if you restrict access from Router itself, no matter its win 98 or win 8 it will work only
if allowed.
Login to your router admin page and under wireless you would find MAC address filtering, read through the setup and you should be able to do it.
if you accidentally get blocked, you can reset the router to get access back.
