How to make a bootable win98 CD?

nope but it still is used by a lot of people not lucky enough to have a P4. the question was posed to me by a friend online. did not find any decent straight forward resources online. asked for a straight forward answer here. and well, like always got everything i did not ask for.
 
hey sush.. here's my 2 cents..1) Make a bootable floppy in Windows. To make a bootable floppy in Windows XP do the following : - To create an MS-DOS startup diskThe MS-DOS startup disk you create will allow you to boot into MS-DOS.Insert a floppy disk into your computer's floppy drive. Open My Computer, and then click the floppy disk drive to select it. On the File menu, point to the name of the floppy drive, and then click Format. Under Format options, click Create an MS-DOS startup disk. Click Start. 2) Then make a bootable disc under NERO You can do this by : - Bootable Data Discs.. You can add the Windows 98 Setup and other files in Step 2..Creating bootable CD's as an emergency startup and backup disc is highly recommended. Bootable CDs are compatible only under Windows 95/98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, NT or XP. Step 1: Select your recorder then, under Data, select "Bootable Data Disc".Step 2: You will be brought to the "Disc Content" window where you will be able to add files. The files and folders will all be visible when you boot from the bootable disc later on. Step 3: Click the "Add" button to select the files for your bootable disc.When you have completed adding all your files, click "Finished".Step 4: When you click on "Next", a dialog will pop up prompting you to insert a boot floppy disk. The information required to make a bootable data disc will be read from the boot floppy disk. These are system files which actually allow a system to boot from a CD and/or DVD. If you do not have a boot floppy disk or do not know how to create one, please check the help files of your Windows operating system.Step 5: When the files have been read from the boot floppy disk, you will be at the "Final Burn Settings" window.Step 5: When you click the "More" button, you will have additional write options for your disc. You can determine the maximum write speed, simulate burning, or just write straight to the disc. When you have made your selection and are ready to record, please click the "Burn" button! F.Y.I.! You cannot make bootable Multisession discs!=========================THERE HOPE THAT HELPED
 
Please burn at 24x or lower speed for best compatibility.In my experience, I've seen that though the disk may have the boot-sector fine, it won't boot properly if burnt at higher speeds.

Ur right. I tried to make a bootable ME disk at 52X last year. Now its just become a Startup Disk!! :lol:

You're not weird, actually you're right!! There is no point in quoting posts at the end!!We can use ^ ^ instead!!
 
I always said that rules must be explained and you explained once why you were strict with that. You said you had to backup the forum and if people start quoting the post above it would inflate the size of the files you would have to download through Sify (yeah it was an old post).Makes sense
 
So ... did it work ... the bootable CD for Win98SE .... 🙄 I want guidance for doing the same with WinXP-pro with list of files that should be added to the CD (since it is a single session burn). The OS and all software is on C:\ drive. Probably, one will want to add the C:\Documents and Settings folder. How about something from Norton2004. I am assuming that one will have partitioned the HDD so that all data files are on other partitions. I made a bootable floppy and used it only to find that I only get a A:\ prompt and system does not recognise any other dirve. Guidance and comments please. Best wishes.
