Will Sify Unblock Ping?

Will sify ever unblock ping? I can't ping outta' my LAN. is there a way around this? I don't need an online service like nwtools.. Some prog..? Thanks.
 
they started blocking pings years ago when i was in chandigarh using their connection. their justification was that it is used by people to look for vulnerable machines on the network to hack...sick... i doubt they would change their policies regarding this. 🙁
 
that's the whole thing. they won't do the right things. do stupid things.
 
Well I can still ping outside my lan. As well as to other machines in it.
 

i just dont inderstand even if they wud have unblocked the pings what difference wud it make for you?
 
pings are helpful in seeing how stable your connection is. a breaking ping suggest a fcuked up line.
 
pinging default gateway shld be enuff to kno if connection is fucked or not.Dont u think?
 
gateway is likely to be in your city and not on the internet. this would tell if your internet is working.plus you would know if your ISP is blocking some site or they are down. pings are essential for anyone who wants to check for connection quality. higher pings means bad connection.
 
sushubh you should try using mtr ( Matt's TraceRoute ). It shows you EXACTLY which router, which link, which hop is f*cking up your connection 😛 Its a Linux utility.
