Airtel IPTV installation with D-Link DSL-2750U

Frustrated with the Wi-Fi performance of existing Airtel Provided Router Beetel 450TC1, I purchased and installed a D-Link DSL-2750U WiFi router and succeeded in configuring WiFi and LAN access for all my data devices.
I examined all the WAN connections on my old router and updated them in the new D-Link router as shown below:
================================================================
VPI/VCI VLAN ID ENCAP Service Name Protocol State Status
================================================================
1/35 0 LLC PVC:1/35 Bridge 1 Connected
0/35 0 LLC PVC:0/35 Bridge 1 Connected
1/32 0 LLC PVC:1/32 PPPoE 1 Connected
================================================================
The problem I am facing is that the IPTV STB is unable to log into the system successfully every time it is turned on. By trial and error I have identified that the STB logs in successfully if I switch on the router & STB at the same time.
I suspect the problem could be with the router. Either it blocks some traffic from the STB required for logging in OR it fails to detect the device (STB) connected to the LAN port.

It would be great if someone can share their experience of making Airtel IPTV work with D-Link DSL-2750U WiFi router in a problem free setup.

Regards.

STB works on any LAN port (even on Airtel supplied router) contrary to what the installation guys tell us. The problem I am facing is irrespective of the port to which I connect.

Slightly off-topic, but I'm using the TP-Link TD-W8968 with stellar performance on iptv. There is even a dedicated iptv settings, so no muking about creating virtual groups, etc.

Hi Jayant,
IPTV indeed is working for me for almost a month without a hitch. I played around a bit with the settings, don't remember all of them but what I remember is mentioned below:
1. Open the configuration web pages from the OLD ROUTER and carefully note down the WAN connection information (VPI/VCI, user, pass, PppoE/Bridge etc.). Usually there should be three connections, 1 PppoE and 2 Bridge. As I understand, the IPTV STB uses the bridge connection to connect to the IPTV back end.
2. Now, open the configuration web pages from the NEW ROUTER and configure the WAN connections as per settings noted in Step 1.
3. Connect LAN cable between Router (any port) and IPTV STB. Re-boot the router and STB together a few times and it should work.

If it doesn't work. Let me know. I'll re-examine the settings and revert back in a couple of days.
Regards,
Siddhartha

Hi,
Was able to get the solution.
You need to make 2 VPI/VPC entries 1/35 for IPTV and 1/32 for broadband.
Hi Jayant,
I did exactly the same thing however, at times I am facing issues with wireless.
sometimes i am getting an ip address in range of 10.29.72.XXX with domain iptv.com this can randomly happen to any device my phone or laptop.
and only work-a-round that i found so far is to restart my laptop and router or phone and router both to get wireless working on it.
this is a 50-50 chance for Wifi to work properly.

Hi Shashank,
I have also experienced similar problems with WiFi when IPTV is working. e.g.
- Android tablet unable to acquire IP address.
- WiFi not connected automatically on Laptop. Works fine after disconnect / reconnect WiFi on Laptop.As per my understanding, there is some fundamental network configuration issue which I haven't yet analyzed yet. My guess is some problem with DHCP which I plan to analyze using WireShark (protocol analyzer). However, won't be able to do it for few weeks since I am on holiday.
If you understand network protocols, try sniffing the DHCP network packets transmitted over WLAN interface using WireShark. Let us know if you find the solution.

Hi Jayant,
Can you please let me know the exact step by step process for the configuration that you have done on your Dlink DSL 2750U wifi router with Airtel ipTV?
Even I am trying to configure the same and the airtel guy says that this dlink (wifi+router) is not compatible with airtel iptv.
Thanks
