i am not going to move to bsnl from airtel if they offer a 2 gb 2 meg line for 100 bucks. coz its not worth dealing with the government bodies.

If they really come up with 100 bucks / 2 GB plan you can take 5 of them for 500 bucks 😉

5 telephone lines5 modems5 times the paper work5 times the configuration hassles5 bills5 queues for bills5 times the sarkari babus5 times .....10 gigs wont be enough anyways. 😉

Wow....wow.. so much contradictions.. I guess BSNL's offer is still in words and actions would be effective starting Jan 2007 and dunno when they would give what they promised us!!! Well abt the rumour of BSNL's plans would have reached Mr.Mittal's ears by now, n I'm sure he has something good for all of us!! 😛 I thought BSNL was planning to give 512kbps or 1Mbps... But if 2Mbps with Night Unlimited, I think is slightly impossible. So many techies discussed abt this..! But if 2Mbps comes up then I'm sure to try that for a month alongwith my existing Airtel n I hope I'll come back to my Airtel! 😉Lets C... Hoping for the best!!

I think you have no idea what BSNL can do

This is Home 500 Account. I know they have mentioined "UPTO 2 mbps". Well I used Airtel 256, I got a max of 160 with 256 K conn, but now with BSNL I get as above!

Atleast I am assured of 256 through out the day!

Forget abt 2Mbps for now. I've been experiencing packet losses and a considerable drop in speeds ever since that quake snapped the submarine cable. Night time speeds have dropped from around 215kbps to 150kbps. Found this on Airtel's so called Tech Support site:
Dear Customer,
Due to recent earthquake in Taiwan there is been a disruption in the Under-Sea Fibre-Optic cable internationally, because of which you may experience fluctuation in the browsing experience temporarily.
We deeply regret the inconvenience caused and we assure you that all attempts are being made to restore the network to its original.[/b]

ditto here. luckily this site is hosted in USA. my other sites are hosted on a server in Singapore. it went down big time.

Airtel is not going to introduce 2 mbps anytime soon. Certainly not in the lame manner that BSNL has introduced it with..

ok frnds after reading all the posts i think that many doesen't kow one thing that if you get 2 mbps connecting then also your upload or download speed won't be at 2 mbps it will range between 200 kbps-to-300kbps =)) now calculate the download and in terms of upload you can upload with about ranging 50kbps-60kbps so i don't think that 2mbps may create any shield winning work lo 🙂

Hmm.. Waiting for Mr.Mittal to get his hands on that buzzer and open the Unlimited reservoir of International Bandwidth to lame users like me... Not 2 Mbps though, but atleast I demand my present Night Unlimited 512kbps connection to have 24 hours Unlimited for the same price... Maybe if Mr. Mittal wishes to give us a New Year Bonanza he could offer a Double Bandwidth during Night time (9PM - 8AM)! 😛

How about we all airtel users mailing them requesting them to increase the speed atleast to constant 512 kbps?Surely AirTel will fear a backlash from its consumers if it remains idle even after BSNL bonanza......so if we the consumer demand then surely it will provide dividends...what do you say?How about we all airtel users mailing them requesting them to increase the speed atleast to constant 512 kbps?Surely AirTel will fear a backlash from its consumers if it remains idle even after BSNL bonanza......so if we the consumer demand then surely it will provide dividends...what do you say?

Make a petition or something and send it to them... Or start posting this at DIGG or other NEWS sites...
