Hi Guys,This may sound bit weird to you all but I'm not that techie to do these things...Okay now the problem.. I have a desktop on which i have a BSNL Dataone connection with D-Link DSL 502T modem ..and it works fine through ethernet. Now I've got a laptop on which i want to configure the same connection... I DO NOT WANT TO SHARE CONNECTION WITH MY DESKTOP. I just want to remove the ethernet cable from my desktop , put in my laptop and make it work.I've already added the BSNL Broadband connection in my "Network Connections", but whenever i provide my BSNL username and password and press connect.. i get "Conneting through WAN MiniPort (PPPOE)..." and after sometime i get "Error:678. Remote Computer did not respond." Is there something I'm missing ... ?Can someone of you intellects please help me out !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that you have enabled the LAN connection on your laptop. Is the LAN LED glowing red on the modem? Enable the LAN connection from Network Connections. Also check whether the cable is not loose.

Yes when i connect the ethernet cable to the laptop, the lan gets connected .. the network icon in the Taskbar Glows... and it says "Local Area Connection Speed 100 Mbps"... so we can assume that the LAN is connected
