After Reliance, now Vodafone rumored to be interested in Hutch India
It is already a well known fact that Reliance is eyeing buying out Hutch operations in India. However, things are getting interesting here.
The latest available information states that Vodafone’s board is now considering putting their own bid for Hutchison Essar which is the fourth largest [...]

This is good as Vodafone is wayy bettrt than Reliance!

If reliance take over hutch then i'm going to jump over to Idea once it becomes active in mumbai.

The news about Vodafone investing in Hutch is true. Vodafone has asked Hutchison Essar for an acquisition and vodafone's foray into the growing Indian Mobile market. I guess if Vodafone comes into India we can get Value Added services like GPRS, Wi-Max, EDGE n other stuffs. Its good but our FDI policies have some restrictions and Hutchisson Essar group r still not convinced of outright selling or any partnerships. That's wht I heard of..

I have serious reservations on Vodafone's overtures - seems like a desperate measure by Mr. Sarin to show some action to his investors rather than any well thought out business decision. Mr. Sarin, scraping the bottom of FTSE 100 does not mean a time for foolhardiness. Lets have investors who are committed to the space and India not ego bolstering moves. Every poorly thought out business acquisition means instability for India corp.

You think the Vodafone board or Arun Sarin are fools to just buy Hutch for the sake of it.How can you question their commitment when they will be forking out about 17 Billion $. Hutch is a huge brand and which ever company buys it are going to end up with a lot of money in the long run.

Vodafone's returns in european countries and other ventures like china and japan have been disappointing which has led to them selling their stake to local companies. This doesn't mean that it will be the same story in india. We are the fastest growing market and vodafone can really take it to the next level by brining in their new technologies.

Ofcourse i would prefer that an indian company bought it but reliance to me are a bunch of leechers and will always continue to be.
