I had a change of motherboard of my PC yesterday. I have a UTStarcom 300R2u router configured in the bridge mode. After the change of Motherboard, I formatted and reinstalled windows XP sp2. I am trying to configure my connection and am unable to do so.I installed the LAN card alright and have the local are a connection displayed in network connections as well. The lights on the modem are working fine too. I see the bytes sent log is moving but not the bytes received. Also when I ping 192.168.1.1, I don’t get any response. However I do get a response from 192.168.1.3.I am unable to log onto the router configuration page as well. All this technical stuff is alien to me so kindly tell what and where the problem can be.The problem seems to be with my lan settings/ card only.I am able to log in using USB.Any suggestions how I can go back to Ethernet, as voltage fluctuations do cause trouble in this mode in my case.

any possible solutions?

Try changing your gateway add on lan card settings to 192.168.1.1 else to 192.168.1.3!

Gateway is the ip address of the device(connected directly to lan card or Usb) with which you are wanna communicate

I get your point, but dont know how to go about it. Can you guide me,and if i can recieve bytes and not send, when connected on ethernet, what does it mean?

You could ping 192.168.0.3 because ummmm may be becoz ur lan ip is 192.168.0.3 and basically its pinging local host.

Go to network connections>> right click ur connection>properties>>in new window select TCP/IP(select and not uncheck it) and then click properties. New box will open. change the address to this

[use the following ip address > check it]

Ip Address : 192.168.1.4
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1
DNS : 203.94.243.70

then click ok in all windows to close it and see if u can ping 192.168.1.1.
if you can than open internet explorer and type in http://192.168.1.1/ and configure ur router to use wtever mode u want.

Doesnt seen to work.guess its beyond me,will have to call the mtnl techie, the main problem is the frequent disconnections on even the slightest of voltage fluctuations

Your fist post indicated that you can't connect to net at all, even not to your router, latest one indicates u can connect but u get d/c..I am confused......

In the latest one, i was talking about connection via the usb mode. I told you i was able to connect through usb.i want to preferabaly connect using the ethernet, which i am not able to at present

Dont think the buggers would do that especially with the usb still working, should i carry the router to sanchar haat and ask them to replace it or should i wait for them to grace my home, which might take almost an eternity?

Can someone tell me the procedure of getting the router changed in Delhi?Wont they come and check for themself before they change?

I don't think anyone would come home unless you r close to any employee! So either register a complaint via 1504 & you will receive a call on same LL(Alternate nos are just for fromalities) number. They'll not to care whether you are home or not.else reach the nearest exchange and hit your head with mtnl aunties!

As I mentioned earlier, I can connect through USB. The problem is that The pages dont load properly. THey start loading but do not load fully. Gets stuck and keeps on loading, thats after most of the page has loaded. Downloads and torrents are working fine.
