Telegram Updates

in any case, this might a good time to start finding a mtproto proxy and configure it and keep it as backup. if you have a vps running somewhere, it can be installed there.

Something happened with the recent v2.4 update. May be a bug. One instance is trying to load while the other instance is working fine. Ya, have to find a proxy or get a VPS. Can't run VPN all the time.

MTProto - Telegram proxy server | Connect is a free alternative. There are many more. I have a proxy running on the forum server but I am not sure if it is a good idea to make it public information... Proxy also has a lot of bugs... Sometimes stickers and animated images just stop working. So I have not been running it full time on my own installs.

I wonder if there is an extremely cheap vps option available where I can configure mtproto for interested members here? Indian server would provide much better performance but probably not a good idea.

Know about MTProto, just never needed it. There would be too many connections if you open proxy to public. I have had seen some "channels" not "working" until I connected a VPN before.

number of connections might not be the problem in the end if it is limited to a few members here. the problem is data consumption (and type of data) if members here are using telegram for you know what.

seems weird if indian isps have the ability to block individual channels somehow. 😶

ya, that will eat through GBs or may be even TBs of data in a day.

Edit: That reminds me it's almost morning and I can see the daylight. Perhaps it's a good time to hibernate. lol

And just realized. Telegram should work fine over Warp free edition. Unless it is officially banned in India in which case, it might get blocked through CloudFlare local datacenters as well.

Is telegram more secure compared to WhatsApp? Given the recent fiasco on how anyone can see your data on WhatsApp especially when saved on unencrypted cloud storage.
Based in Russia further raises doubts as to how much secure it will be.

Yup have set it up. That was to be my last resort but it seems there is no option.
As mentioned by you try to ha e both based on needs.
Just recalled I had conv with my cousin about the present scene on India and told him to converse on telegram instead of WhatsApp. Feeling guilty... 😕

telegram should be fine as well if secret chats are used on the app. i am personally happy with 2fa enabled in app which does not use sms based otp.

Are calls encrypted on telegram (call through secret chat) and signal? I read an article on news laundry that signal does not leak meta data. Would it also apply to calls? Much of the focus is on chats, few on calls.
