Vibrant Net
Hi Guys,
I have recently shifted to the Rajakilpakkam area, Chennai. Was desperately looking for an ISP. Airtel did not have cables, I am not a great fan of BSNL due to to my past experiences, so rejected that. Finally got to know about a new ISP by the name VIBRANTNET (www.vibrantnet.in). I was using Wi-Fi (FTTH) when I used to stay in Medavakkam, the plans provided by this guy matches the same as Wi-Fi, checked with the Sales guy and came to know that these guys have taken over from Wi-Fi.
I am left with no choice, but I am still confused if I can go for this. I have opted for 4Mbps plan (Rs. 3454 for 3 months + 750 Reg Fee + Tax). The Sales guy has promised to come back within 3 days for the installation. Can someone suggest please?

I've never heard of these ISPs. Try it out & let us know.
Is this DSL or FTTH?

Wi5.in was their site. Not sure if the one you opened is the right one, because it has random ads :nonchalance:
I actually got Airtel & Tattoo Broaband ads via Google Ads on this site

Wow.. Got the installation done and connection activated today, after my inquiry to the sales person yesterday. Since I was not quite confident on how the customer service would be, have opted for a 2 Mbps plan (2818 for 3 months + 12.xx % Service Charge). Hoping to extend the service with a faster plan, if I don't face any issues for the next 3 months (fingers crossed). Haven't had time to check the speed yet.. will write up after doing so..

Hi Anand,
I am also staying near to your area and interested in vibrant net broad band as none of other ISPs are available in my street.
Can you please share your experience with Vibernet ?

Thanks!
Vinoth

Hi there,
I am from Chitlapakkam (near Tambaram New Bus Stand) and i have been using vibrantnet since a few months now.
Few points :
> Their website is vibrantnet.in but you wont find anything googling for it !!!! (i still dont understand how a company that can be an ISP and not host a basic website with their contact info and basic plan info?!$#@)
> We used to have services from Zylog's Wi5 earlier (they were sort of cheapest prepaid service in the area earlier and we tried it a while) and the same router works for vibrantnet.in supposedly, vibrantnet has taken over from wi5. I had searched a lot and looks like zylog is a big banner but still, the same story. they havent said much about having withdrawn wi5 services in chennai and still worse, their website directs you to wi5's home page which doesnt exist.
> At the moment, i am using their basic plan, costing around 700 pm, gives 10 GB FUP and unlimited access beyond that @ 256 kbps . applies to 31 days from date of recharge.
> Salient (!) Features :
>> It is a dialup broadband connection. unless you have a third party router that supports such connections be auto dialled, u dont have an always on connection. (I have a buffalo wireless router which is not supported).
>> As said before, they dont have a proper website (just a single jpeg file fortunately to see the company logo)
>> You can recharge only throught their agents they dont have online payment or similar options (obviously website still under progress!!!)
>> Rarely we do have outages (for only a few hours or a day- faced outage probably 2 or 3 times in 3 months)

Other than the above, overall, i am satisfied for the money paid.

Thanks a lot Rajesh, they are useing same wires, which were lying down since shutdown of wi5, and providing connections in medavakkam.
I will go ahead with this provider based on your feedback. 2-3 times in 3 months quite good compared to what I am facing with BSNL evdo right now, I am not getting any signal 15days in a month, and still paying 840 bucks!!
