HelloMy browsing speed is slow im getting a lot of time delay. If i ping to my DNS (primary or secondary) that's 61.1.96.69 and 71 im getting a time loss of 60-70ms. But there is no timed out. Is this same with you all??? please respondTo ping:START-->RUN--> ping 61.1.96.69 -t

You on which isp ....

Yes. Same problem with BSNL everywhere. An undersea cable snapped in the pacific. It is being repaired. In the meantime data is being routed through alternative routes. Hence the delay.

Man, really scary huh? ONE cable cuts and the whole thing goes kaput! HAHAMy connection went down at 6am Friday April 8th, it was back in the evening but really slow speeds, then shot up again at 2am (sat) for a couple of hours then went slow again, and today (Sun) it seems to be fine now...But if it was a cable cut then I'm now even more impressed with BSNL if they got back up and running again in a day...

Hello, Thanks for your replies. Still my ping time delay is about 70ms but im getting an average download speed of 35-40kbps without any d/l managers. What is the maximum upload and download speed supported by BSNL HOME500 plan(256kbps). Anyone using the same can guide me.

OMGIf you're not using download managers you're probably getting the download speed in bytes not bits... so your 40 kBps is same as about 300 kbps... note the small and large "B"...Unless I'm mistaken and you're really getting 35 kbps

Someone please explain me the conversion of KBps and kbps. I'm getting 40 KBps as my download speed. so how much is my actual speeD??

lowercase b is bits, uppercase B is bytes...one byte is eight bits... so 40 kBps is 320 kbps...or to make it simple just use a factor (multiply or divide as needed) of ten..so 40kBps is about 400kbps, or on a 256kbps connection, your browser should show about a 25 kBps download... again, it depends on teh server/website you're downloading from... it may be slow or the internet may be congested at that time and you might get less... capice?
