what is this?? 😱

spammer forgot to put in a link. there is something wrong with IPB. either someone has managed to find a way to auto register and post junk posts or some people have too much free time to do it all automatically.

Why don't u add image verification ? We had similar problem in phpbb forum, image verifications solved it.

this is the registration page. you want me to put one while creating a new post?

^ let me put my opinion here :image code verification may be required forthe first 10 or 25 posts by a new member ...And this site needs a few new moderators to take control of the spam ...

image verification or captcha's might not help too much. If it were required for the first few posts then this site will never get much more users than those already over the limit. Just need to be more vigilant with deleting.

I only noticed this much spam recently, seems that the site has reached a new milestone, it is now spam worthy 🙂

sushubh, that image verfication is very simple to break. Infact a simple ANN can break that image verification! 😱

well yeah i guess considering i have seen how rapget does the same thing.but if you remember how you registered. after putting in that number, you have to validate your email id by clicking on a link in a mail sent to you by the forum application.now that cannot be totally automated... registering.filling the details and the captcha.checking mail.clicking on the verification link.coming back to the forum.logging in.posting a junk post in a somewhat relevant forum section.too complicated for something practically useless.

now that cannot be totally automated...

1. registering.
2. filling the details and the captcha.
3. checking mail.
4. clicking on the verification link.
5. coming back to the forum.
6. logging in.
7. posting a junk post in a somewhat relevant forum section.

too complicated for something practically useless.

The evidence is to the contrary..

What is so difficult about clicking on the verification link? the spammer can easily setup a simple domain to receive such verification emails which are "verified" by the bots simply 😉

but forums are more complicated than blogs.u have to go to a particular section. open up a new topic... and then submit it. i am not sure if its as simple as putting up a script to comment spam on a blog or generate emails to random mail ids... 😕i am still pretty sure that this kind of spam is done manual... but of course spammers are too smart to overcome any kind of shit people throw at them!

sushubh, its pretty simple to write a script for forum spamming in python. it makes it really simple! 😱

hmm sucks. today i got attacked by comment spam which totally crashed the server running this forum... 🙁
