I had been a subscriber of Tata Sky HD since the time it was launched and decided to move to D2H because of few HD channels and exorbitant pricing of the former. Just got a brand new connection for Videocon D2H HD today

Upon reviewing the picture quality of Videocon D2H HD, I am thoroughly disappointed to say the least. The picture quality is HORRIBLE, the picture is hazy and washed out, colour rendition is extremely poor, images appear ghost like and there is no sharpness at all. If HD channels are of so inferior quality, needless to say that the SD ones are even worse.

I don't know whether this is a problem with the installation, the HD box provided or if the quality of Videocon D2H is so inferior, but I am terribly disappointed with the picture quality of D2H

TataSKY's PQ was light years ahead than that of D2H.

Anyone else who moved to D2H HD from TS HD felt the same or is it just me? Do you think the technicians can fix this or did I just flush 3280 Rs down the drain?

Thanks

I have not see much of Tata Sky HD. I have seen a bit of Videocon DTH HD. It seemed fine to me. But then without comparison, I am not in position to say much 🙂

videocon dth is good as compare to Tata Sky , the picture quality factor seems to be great in videocon but the customer support is awesome in tata as compare to videocon...

There is something wrong with the stb or satellite. Videocon d2h is of better quality and more reasonably priced than Tata Sky. I know how expensive tata sky is, I paid more than 600 bucks, but still couldn't' see all the channels. D2h, as per me is the best DTH player.

yean man thats right....if u can see the price point of view.

D2h is good. I never faced problems. Call their CC or write on their FB page. I'm sure your prob will get resolved in no time!

I am an Tata Sky HD subscriber with 32 inch LCD.
Two weeks back I watched Sun Music SD channel(Samsung 32 inch lcd tv) on Ford showroom for about an hour( they made wait during service)
The first impression I got was - something wrong with the picture quality.
Then noticed that the faces of the anchors was lacking details and it was smooth(very few colors). It was as it you did surface blur on Photoshop with higher radius 🙂 This is likely due to their compression algorithm settings with low bit rate.
But then I got used to it after sometime. I guess you will not have see this as a problem as time passes 😉

That's right - it's all a matter of "getting used to"

not at all. Your planning for shifting is lifetime poor decision i can say........... Videocn DTH and customer Care is best ever,Also HD Quality and no. of channels are far better than Tata Sky .The Poorest HD provider is Dish HD. This is after 7 + months experience in these DTH providers .I have 42 inch LG 3D LED TV .I experienced all the DTH ,But Videocon is best ever .This is per expnce. :nonchalance:

I guess you're trying to say that the shifting is the best decision and not a lifetime poor decision. Well, I am now used to the picture quality and it seems okay to me.
The only complaint I have with D2H now, is their super laggy interface, it was updated about a month back, but no improvement with the lag. If videocon can fix the software and make it more fluid and responsive, that would be great.
