ISP
Jio & Hathway
So I was using BSNL 1350 Annual Plan (13500 + taxes), 4 mbps for 20 GB then 512 kbps, but BSNL has been hiking the costs
a. Rs.75 increase in plan
b. 11 months cost instead of 10 in case of annual plans
c. removal of 1% discount on online payment
d. changing to free calls from all network to only BSNL network
So my cost would be expected to go up from around 15k per annum to around 18k
Wanted to remove, but the other options are scarier & am a bit hesitant to go back to the only other service that was decent (Airtel) which is still equally costlier.
Hence, now when the time for the renewal of online payment came. I have decided to test waters first by switching to a monthly lower plan of 900 + taxes per month (expect cost to be 12k per annum, 2 mbps for 8 GB, 512 kbps beyond).
On the look out for other ISP options & may probably switch to the lowest plan possible (500/600 ones) while I test the new ISP.
So looking forward to recommendations of ISPs around Anna Nagar, Shenoy Nagar, Kilpauk, Kellys in Chennai
(Uptime is primary, reasonable speed & then cost would be the factors)
Reliance is ruled out & unless Hathway has improved a LOT in the last few years is ruled out as well...

I am using the exact same plan and have been trying hard to get another ISP. No luck. I am in Anna nagar east and have Airtel, BSNL and Tikona in the vicinity. Tried to get Tata Docomo, Reliance but no luck.I think you can give Tata Docomo a shot. I use a Tata photon plus when my speed reduces post 20 Gb.

Well, called Docomo guys & no one turned up after 2-3 calls. So worried if this is the case before getting a connection, how will it be after. Plus reviews have been mixed, but yes plan-wise they seem to have come up with slightly better plans...

Did you call the guy who was referred here by Kurian? He was slow to respond to me too.I registered a request on their site and people came for a feasibility check in about 4 days time.

No, but I have read his sob story & thats why I am hesitant. Would probably consider it if someone from around here says its good.

Considering the price and plans of Tata Docomo, I would give them a chance if they were in my area.

man really dont go for it i will advice u , tata docomo is worst in giving proper speed and services...reliance is probably is a good option as compare to tata i can say that..

Go for any local provider like ACT,Tikona or any other if you have, it should suit your purpose. If Airtel is there you can go for the same.Would not recommend to go for Docomo specially for Broadband.

I happened to notice the status of my service request and saw the status of plan change as cancelled. On calling up they are telling me they no longer accept plan change online :O
Planning to send a letter for the change. But this is too bad. How would I have known had I not checked 😕

No ID pwd. udaan.bsnl.co.in. Click on register for new connection link at the bottom. Select PLAN CHANGE from drop down.

They charge an amount to collect the application. I paid Rs. 250 a couple of year back. Just visit exchange if you have time.
