this is highly discouraging me. they dont plan to offer different packages.
they just plan to give one fix package. that makes it comparable to cable
people. take it or leave it. pay for all channels even if u dont want
or discontinue service.

somebody from Tata Sky LISTENING?!! u will lose subscribers this way.
i will NOT take ur service at this rates. cable STB costs way less than
ur STB charges. cable would offer me per channel price. why shud i
go for u? i want to go for u but u r discouraging me!!!

Price of 300 Rs seems ok... Its good tht they haven't launched the packages as yet... They still don't have all the channels so it don't make any sense to launch different packages...

huh??!!i dont want zee at all.. why should i pay 72Rs just for HBO?it becomes same as normal cable this way. anyway 300rs may still be cheapfor u but not for me.

I am not saying 300rs is cheap for me... How can any money be cheap 😉 Just telling u tht how can they launch the packages before they have all the channels...They must first have all the channels and after tht they need to get those divided into packages... If they launch the packages now then they will be charging more or less the same amount but the channels will be lot more lesser... Also we still haven't heard from Tata Sky abt any tariff increase... lets hope for the best...

see they have star, Sony and zee. what more they need
to create packages? cant they say for example:
sony package - 80 rs
star package - 90rs
zee package - 80rs
plus taxes.

they have almost same channels as dish basic package
which gives same channels for 180+tax. but dish offers
packages. wheareas as per reports Tata Sky plans to
charge 300 for same no of channels as zee basic package.

when sun comes they can simply add
sun package - 60rs or so.

it would be easy for them as well to maintain things.

anyway lets wait for them to announce. i am anyway
waiting till 1st jan.

Their packages page calls it super saver package, funny, duh.
If its super saver now that means in future this will become basic package.
i am highly upset! comeon i dont want 100 plus channels i just want select
30 channels.

Amish ,these things take time and like hitman said unless they have all the channels with them they can't introduce different packages when the rates are still not fixed. CAS is yet to be implemented and unless the individual pricing issue of an channel is solved it makes no sense to offer customers selective choice.

^^Its not a appropiate reason! i think they are locking everybody by making them pay 4000 for startup providing dish which is locked and useless otherwise and then not giving flexibility in packages just like CDma providers !!

well, duh, what did you expect? The Rs. 200 price per month was very very clearly advertised as an "introductory" offer, which means that as soon as the 'introduction' is over, you pay more. There are no two ways about it.Amusingly, I had asked a shopkeeper about this the other day and according to him it would go up in Jan (I suppose because CAS will come) and when I asked him what it will be, he tried to sell me the idea that "oopar bhi ho sakta hai, neeche bhi"... hahaha, like they would reduce prices!!!! After he found out he shouldn't try to bullshit me, he quickly added that it will increase only.

i agree with gavnitsingh.verbmetal:200rs was promo offer BUT if u remember it was launched when they didnthave ZEE package. they just had star and Sony packages. so it was justcalled promotional offer for namesake they were charging no less thancable price for sony and star combined.when zee was available to them for Rs 72 they had few subscribersbut now as subscriber base is increasing they cant afford to pay 72rs from theirown pocket (or profit margin) hence they have increased the price.plus zee is still offering same channels at 180+tax rates but zee got star packagefor just 24rs. so we can see what went wrong for tata. hence they are forcedto increase fees.but they missed a trick they should have kept option of 200rs package with2 of 3 pacakges (star, sony, zee) plus free to air channels. even then i wouldhave gone for tata.

Even if they launch the packages there will be no way they will provide u the option to select from star, Sony or zee packages... They will make their packages very shrewdly... Like hindi entertainment package (zeetv,startv etc), sports package, regional lang package, kids package, movie package etc... In tht condition I am sure it will cost u more or less same as u will be paying now.....

The price has gone as expected. I am surprised that some people expected the price more or less the same. I had earlier mentioned in another that the price is bound to cross 300 as they have added Neo & Zee channels which are coming to them at Rs.58 & Rs.72 respectively. Further their "super saver" pack seems is valid upto 28th of Februray as mentioned in the bottom of the channels list page. So when more channels come up, I expect it to touch/cross Rs.400. Dish TV full bouquet costs close to Rs.400 & we know whose service is better. So obviously we should expect the same cost if not more from Tata.

I called the customer care and they told me tht this 200rs will continue till 4 months from the time of installation... After tht my package will automatically get converted to super saver pack ie 300Rs. per month... So I still have one month where they will charge me 200rs per month...

I guess tht scheme is now over.... So new users (who joined on or after 1st dec) have to pay 300rs per month now..

Yes. New customers will aslo get the 200 rs introductry offer. I think they will launch new channels on Jan 1.
