MTNL VDSL Installation queries

I'm a MTNL triband user and thinking to shift to VDSL. Have some queries:1. What are the installation charges including the set up, the wiring and the one-time deposits? 2. Is it necessary to keep a telephone or can I get rid of it as nobody uses land-line here. If I cannot get rid of it, then what's the monthly charge for the telephone? 3. What is the monthly charge for the VDSL wireless router?

aree tu kidhar kidhar qstns post karta hai !!
1) 1000. wiring is the same as adsl. they will just attach a new modem.
2) no. if u attach the phone the snr margin drops so u will have to keep the phone out of the equation anyways. change to the incoming plan. i think it is 150 odd
3) router fookat. the wireless one is a bit problematic. me n sanket both have the simple wired one.
vdsl is pretty new and they are not experienced in dealing with thsi stuff. if it works nicely in the first attempt then u will be saved the hassle of going there a dozen times. esle u will have to keep following up with them. it shud be stable eventually. hopefully they have learnt something from us !! lol
the best part is decent pings and 0 downtime whatsoever.

Haha. Idhar post kiya taaki Sushubh ji phir bhadak naa jaayein. 😛1. Okay2. So basically I still need to pay 150-160 bucks for phone. Are there any combo VDSL plans? 3. No monthly charges for router!!! That's surprising. And what are the issues with the wireless routers. I use the Internet on 5 devices (two laptops, two phones and a tablet), so a wired one would be pretty much useless for me.

even i have 5 devices connected. get a wireless one seperately and connect it to the vdsl router. thats how we are doing it. the one given to me used to take eternity to connect and had line drops.
no combo plans.

just get a normal wireless router and connect it to the vdsl router. its too much hassle getting a vdsl router. u won't get it that easily.

@AbhishekS
U need to be within 1Km of ur xchg to get VDSL.......
They might giv conn over tht limit too but it will not giv full speeds / conn stability.....

I put VDSL modem in bridge mode and let my main wireless router do the connection.
I haven't really done such things before. Will have to research on the topic a bit.

That won't be an issue. The exchange is within half kilometers for me. 😀

Can I continue using the wireless ADSL router MTNL has given me for Rs. 50/month. Or will it be necessary to give that router back? 😛
Can't I continue using it by paying Rs. 50/month?

I've held off getting VDSL looking at sanke1 and kickass' experience. In no mood to all that running around. 😛

yea...... even I hav given up on VDSL till they solve these annoying problems....... consistent ping & zero timeouts is must for me rather than the speed it provides......
I think MTNL is learning a lot frm Sanket & Kickass....... they will be able to find a stable setting for VDSL with this experience.....
Looking at FTTH..... but they just dont install the fiber here even with 300 flats in my society....... am not going to advertise for them.......

u will have to return the adsl modem AND cancel ur adsl subscription before u can apply for vdsl ! or if u have 2 lines apply for vdsl on the 2nd one. i have kept adsl on one and vdsl on another.

btw the vdsl page has a new table below.looks recently added. 50 rs for wired modem 100 for wireless ! 😕

another new line added today

[*]A rent free Landline will be provided on above combo plans
[/list]the just arbitrarily change their plan speeds post fup and T&C. they are supposed to inform us which obviously is too much to ask.
