was posting the same... 🙂useless offer for Android and WP users...

The offer is not valid for subscribers who have portalnmms as their APN, using browser other than native Android browser, and to Vodafone BlackBerry subscribers. What’s more annoying is that Vodafone has gone one step ahead and is displaying ads in tweets with external media. Ads also pops up every time one tries to compose a tweet.
So that popup ad is the result of this offer.

That explains why only Vodafone users are getting this. I was getting terribly confused.

lol. i am surprised twitter is allowing interfering with their official apps by a mobile service provider 😀

If that's the case, Vodafone is probably doing something nasty (man in the middle attack or whatever) 😛 to push their ads in Twitter apps. I mean these apps are supposed to operate in HTTPS mode completely right? 😛

Haha yeah. Maybe that's why the ads are USSD based and showing up irrespective of the fact whether you follow them on twitter or not? They are probably showing it up by monitoring the traffic source or something like that.

I am more worried about consumers who ARE on data plans and do not mind spending 50MB of their monthly allocation on tweet updates. I doubt [member='ChaiBiskutBhai'] is on a pay per use plan.

Yeah. No benefit plus more ads. Maybe this is the time they should look at 3rd party Twitter apps. One more reason to uninstall Twitter app thanks to Vodafone.

lol yeah. i would have been tempted to MNP away to Airtel if I was on Vodafone. sadly, airtel would probably emulate the exact features of this 'new service'.

Now that this news has come about, I feel its not a twitter popup ad, but a USSD popup ad when someone uses the twitter app on VF network.

Free Twitter on Vodafone is applicable for apps or on mobile web version of Twitter? any idea?
