The Ubuntu Edge is a very ambitious smartphone that'll be capable of running a full-fledged Ubuntu desktop operating system alongside Android. While specs are currently tentative, the company is aiming to outfit the Edge with a quad-core CPU, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Meanwhile, the phone itself will sport a 4.5-inch, 1,280 x 720 display that's constructed of sapphire crystal glass, an 8MP rear / 2MP front-facing camera and stereo speakers. As for connectivity, Canonical's eyeing LTE, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC, along with MHL support.
RIP PCs

LOL. They are using crowd sourcing for funding. Good luck to Canonical.

Price is actually quite good. I would have invested if I was making good money these days. Also next year is a too long wait. That amplifies the problem. I have seen a bunch of people who have invested in this project. Of course, it is easier for a US based journalist to invest USD 600 in a device that should still be quite modern next year.

Would be hard if it doesn't cover a few millions this week. Things get slow after that.

They say that they would pick the best hardware available at the time of spec finalization so nothing is confirmed right now. But by May 2014, these might not be as spectacular.
