I have a UTStarcom WA3002G4 provided by BSNL and a Linksys WRT54G v7. I also have a 2 MBPS BSNL connection.
The UTStarcom WA3002G4 is connected to Linksys WRT54G v7 and the Linksys WRT54G v7 is connected to my PC.
I am running on Windows 7 64 -Bit.

So my problem is that my connections keep dropping. And by 'connections' I don't mean internet connection.

Suppose I am on a Skype call and browsing the web and the connection drops, then I am unable to browse the web but weirdly the Skype call remains active. I am not even able to access both the router's pages but the Skype call remains active.
Same thing happens while downloading a file. The connection drops but the file download is in progress but I am unable to surf the web. And this happens constantly especially during daytime.

I decided to connect the UTStarcom WA3002G4 directly to my PC instead through WRT54G v7 but I still faced the same issue. And it doesn't seem that the other PCs connected to UTStarcom WA3002G4 via WiFi and facing any such issue.

I have tried reinstalling Windows many times and have even changed my PC but am still facing this problem.
I have tried disabling Windows Firewall and avast! Firewall but all in vain.

And once the connection drops, the only way to fix it is by restart the router close to me which is Linksys WRT54G. Once I restart I can access the UTStarcom router but drops again in anytime between one minute and five minutes.
And restarting the routers disconnects the ongoing connections too like a Skype call or a download.
And while playing an online I game, I disconnect every five to ten minutes.

What exactly could be causing an issue like this?
The distance between the two routers? How much maximum can it be?

'ipconfig /all' of both the routers:

For UTStarcom WA3002G4:

For Linksys WRT54G v7:

And my Linksys WRT54G v7 configuration page:

The UTStarcom WA3002G4 router is 192.168.1.1 and the Linksys WRT54G v7 is 192.168.2.1.

Please help, I have no idea what could be causing this and I have even changed the LAN wires between both the routers.

Okay I am not a master of Networking, but I'll try to help. Just see if anything correlates. I had an issue like this and it was at that time said to be, First, Modem Fault, Utstar wireless modem with 4 Lan ports. Also second reason they gave was that my location was the end of line so to speak from the ISP, hence if the modem is weak/faulty it won't get connected. Is the DSL light staying stable in the Modem or disconnects when you do some activity like gaming or opening a new browser tab or something. Be careful of cracks and stuff or downloading so called cheats or aimbots because sometimes they'll be malware ladden. I'm just saying since you mentioned gaming somewhere. Not JUDGING YOU! So Relax! One way is when clicking certain things watch carefully for any quick invisible outline of a popup like effect going to the right and bottom of your screen. Run a scan with MBAM or SuperAntiSpyware and check if anything is there. Check if your antivirus or firewall(and updating) is active or deactivated by any trojan and also if the programs you are accessing are excluded in the firewall to prevent issues. Also just another random doubt, Did you change your connection recently from some other ISP to a new one and did they use the same wires from the old one by any chance? Hope something comes through as a solution soon. Other things I can think of are the power adapter must be gone for the UTstar or the modem itself by some spike in Electricity. OR just might be some General Line Fault. Do You have any Parallel Phone Connections or getting any loop backs or disconnection when a call comes? When it's BSNL, first culprit usually is their LINE! Some junction will have a fault but they'll say it's clear. Is the dial tone clear on your phone without any Crackling? lol 😉 Sorry too many questions, but just use it as a checklist for troubleshooting. Cheers.

I appriciate your concern, but I have tried a lot of things in the past and none of them have worked.
I am pretty sure it's not viruses cause I have my antivirus ON all the time, and I do know how malwares and other viruses works, so I doubt I have caught one.
The dial tone on the line is clear, I also tried removing the splitter but that didn't help.
Even I am thinking at this point that it's BSNL cause the connection becomes fine at night but it's all messed up during daytime.

Only one PC in your network faces this issue while others are fine?
I got it. Everytime I have checked the SNR Margen and Line Attenuation, they have seemed fine.

But this time I kept refreshing that page again and again and the values kept dropping and eventually my internet disconnected.

After a particular point the upstream values dropped down to 8.
No wonder my internet sucks.

What do I do next?
If I call the BSNL guys then they will check and the internet will be working fine at that time and plus the people they send are complete noobs.
I live in Pune.

Do this. Complain using the link in my signature citing frequent disconnections. Save that screen shot. Show it to them. If that doesn't work, complain again using the same form, ask them to reduce line rate to 4096kbps. That should help a bit.

Okay.
Do those people come home or change the settings from the outside?

Hmm strange though. But why is it dropping like that? Did you try changing the splitters? Where is the DP box? Anywhere near? Just check to see if there's any muck there or if some moron has their AC pipe draining water onto it or something! You never know man! It Happens only in India! lol Oh and if possible, do run a scan just to be doubly sure.Yep as suggested above complain. I used to do the next best thing, take a damn video itself on my phone on the occasions the connections are bad and go show the people at the test bench or Link Center. Here the ones who come home won't know jack's aR$3 about troubleshooting at the system. Don't know how technically sound they are over there. They might have some fault at some junction box and hence the issues. Or the wires might be not placed in the DP box properly and when someone else switches on, wires must be touching. I know it happens because even now if you look at my box you'll see open joints put for my connection! Yep Joys of BSNL! lolWhen it works, it works good though, so just try to get it sorted out at either their online site or if the BSNL office/CSC is near, go there and give a written complaint and tell them the issue. They usually ask to bring your modem along over here. All the Best and hope your issue is resolved soon. Take Care

During 2005 I had similar problems

[*]so i got my DP changed, with line running through a gap between houses to another street reducing around 600 mts distance coz of the round trip the alternate line took to reach me
[*]i got the drop wire changed to multi , this permanently solved my troubles
[/list]now the only problem i face is that once in a while one of the wires in the multi BURNS OUT as the lineman explains and i know the reason " my downloading 😛 "

I already tried removing the splitter and did do a full system scan last night, found nothing.
There was water in my LAN wire but I changed the wire 5 months ago.
I have no idea what a DP and a junction box is, mind telling me?

Then I better contact BSNL fast.

Hey,
Did you fixed this issue? I am also having the same issue.
Yes, I fixed the issue by disabling the firewall in the UTStarcom WA3002G4.
Login to your router and go to Advanced Setup -> WAN.
Edit your PPPoE WAN.

Keep hitting next until you reach the firewall disable option, try not to change anything in-between unless you want to enable or disable a particular option.

Save and reboot the router after this.

If you any other router then just disable the firewall in it and reboot it.
If you are still getting disconnected then it could be some other problem.
