New deals are often announced during Diwali; however there isn't anything from Tata Indicom. I am pretty disappointed ; I was hoping for a reduction of their 256 unlimited plan to around Airtel's rates. A 512 unlimited plan would also have been nice. Have any other ISP's announced new plans recently? Indian "broadband" is already far behind the rest of the world and it would be a shame if we remain stuck in the absurdly expensive status quo.

That is simply not going to happen. The upgrade takes place in steps and taking into account the usage patterns of the users. At present the percentage of broadband users in india is very small and unless that improves you can forget about the Mbps connections in 2 years unless the government itself directs the isps to upgrade their plans .
