Running forum on home pc

I hope I'm posting this in the right section, if not them I'm extremely sorry I thought that this was the right place.

Well I read the tutorial by someone for installing IPB on home pc.

I have successfully installed IPB 2. But there is one problem

I can access my forum through http://localhost/ http://127.0.0.1/ which are both of course same.

But i can't access my forum through my local LAN i.p.
I had earlier download a software Simple Server WWW from @n@1ogx.com
It worked perfectly fine... the HTML pages were viewable on LAN as well as through no-ip static web address.
I could view the HTML pages by typing http://localhost/ http://127.0.0.1/ and http://10.19.240.*** (my local ip) and http://*****.servemp3.com.

But the forums don't appear on LAN and neither through the static web address.

I don't know anything much in this regard... I just experiment and now I'm stuck.... I desperately need help!!!

I opened the Apache configuration through EasyPHP bu the only thing I tried changing was "ServerName". It was set to localhost. . Then I changed ServerName to my local IP, even the No-Ip static web address I had, but nothing works!!!!


PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME. Don't just view the topic and laugh at me but instead reply and help!!!!

PLEASE I desperately need to get this forum running or else I'm gonna lose a bet worth a 1000 bucks!!!!

Seems configuration problem of ur web server it may be listening on loopback interface only . Dig it up and u may change it to listen on 0.0.0.0 (all interfaces)

So what I need to do is to open the Apache config file and set LISTEN to 0.0.0.0 ???If I'm wrong then please correct coz i cudn't get what u meant by all interfaces???I'm sorry if I'm being very dumb, stupid n irritating but I seriously don't know much about this stuff.I am attaching the Apache config file. You can view it and tell me which settings need to be corrected or just correct the settings and post the file here.I changed LISTEN to 0.0.0.0 but then Apache stopped running!!What should I do??

No lol, that's crap. If you can access it from your own LAN address as you said but others can't your firewall is interfering there is linkely no other problem.

thats the prob, i can't access it thru my lan add... only localhost!!!

Read properly !! . He was able to access from lan b4r when he had some other web server .




I saw ur config file there is
Listen 127.0.0.1:80

Try changing it to 0.0.0.0:80 (instead of 0.0.0.0 alone) and it should work 🙂

change to Listen 0.0.0.0:80

If u still get some prob then put *.*.*.*:80 ( where *.*.*.* is ur lan ip) but 0.0.0.0:80 should work fine though

U can always use backup file if nething goes wrong

Power I didn't mean what you said was crap..I just saw lot's of capitals in his post so yeah I was tired and didn't read it properly.

No probs happens manytimes 🙂 SOmetimes me tooo just give posts a quick read :wacko: and that post confused me lil bit at start . Me too was thinking if he was able to access from lan now or b4r :lol: but i figured it out .
