50 per cent of Indian smartphone users do not have data connection - Tech - IBNLive

According to a new study conducted by Nielsen Informate Mobile Insights, an alliance between Nielsen and Informate Mobile Intelligence, only half of the smartphone users polled have active data access. It means that over half of Indian smartphone users are underutilising their phones.

It is interesting to note that the youth are quick to adopt data connectivity on their smartphones, as more than half of all data users are younger than 25.

Besides, the Indian Smartphone user study found that smartphone users in India overwhelmingly prefer mobile devices that operate on the Android operating system, which highlights Indian consumers' desire for a platform that is open and available across multiple brands and prices.

Charge 30rs per month for internet connection with only 50-100mb data and I'm sold.

I've seen people using a Galaxy S3 to just call, sms and camera. Hell they've not even configured their Google account in the phone, forget about installing apps.

Why do you think people buy Galaxy S3? to show off of course. Just like people buy iPhones to showoff and get attached to the Apple brand name, not because they are interested in all the technical stuff

more like they cannot buy iPhone because it is so darn expensive. if iphone was available at lower prices, i can safely say half of all android users would flock to the fruit.

yeah also many micromax ninja karbon lava phones people are buying and using simply for phone and smsyes if iPhone is cheap people will buy that.

so what options do they have? good quality feature phones are disappearing. unless you want to buy a crappy looking Nokia 100 or 101, the only option you have is to either pick up a pseudo smartphone like asha or a cheap android.

Im sure that people in the us buy iPhones in huge numbers because it is subsidised. I doubt how many buy it unlocked. Indians imo are smart when it comes to parting with their money.

so now you are saying that people in usa are also smart enough to buy devices as per their needs? :\
