Lets hope for the best..🙂

america? they are now getting out from most of the european markets. AOL is practically doomed. they are killing their own ISP operations in the USA relying more on content generated revenues.

AOL is not a good ISP, but it is still better then ISPs operating in India.

Hahahahaha....when are they coming? 2020? 😛 Damn it. It'll take them a huge time to find a partner. Get the required licenses. Start setting up the local loop and stuff. It'll be a good 5-10 years before they can offer services in the retail market AT AFFORDABLE PRICES.

well said Max...haahaaaaaa I am sure mtnl will offer 256 unlimited in bombay before then lol

Dude, any crap American ISP over any top rated Indian ISP any day of the week.

What the hell is that supposed to mean? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, and assume that you didn't mean that you would always choose something American over something Indian, because that would be an incredibly retarded way to think, not to mention very very cheesy.Indian ISPs like Airtel and MTNL are better than AOL, and at the very least are in no way worse than it.The only thing wrong with our top ISPs is that our speeds here are low, and that is something that is a national scenario and not really a shortcoming of individual ISPs, and is not something that would be remarkably changed by the introduction of a sh*tty ISP like AOL. If you think our customer service is bad, and our ISPs follow sketchy practices, then wait till you see AOL!!!!

We do not have ANY decent company that is purely in ISP business. Only significant company that I can think of it Sify. With AOL's budget it can easily buy bandwidth from FLAG.

For someone like me, who has tasted 2mbps speeds of Comcast Broadband in the U.S, I have all the bloody rights to make whatever opinion I can which I think is right. If all you care about is the level of cheesyness, stop posting, because you getting your half-minded opinion about 'Mera Bharat pehla' is cheesyness is its prime.

Indian ISPs like Airtel and MTNL are better than AOL, and at the very least are in no way worse than it.[/b]

Name one thing they've got over AOL. AOL has its own browser, one of the largest messaging services today, large database of movies and music information and a **** load of other features Indian ISP can't even dream about having right now.

The only thing wrong with our top ISPs is that our speeds here are low,[/b]

Isn't that quite the only thing that matters in a broadband? Or perhaps the primary thing?

and that is something that is a national scenario and not really a shortcoming of individual ISPs, and is not something that would be remarkably changed by the introduction of a sh*tty ISP like AOL.[/b]

Its not a national scenario, if it is, then its a shame on the people and the government. If countries like Pakistan, who is not match for India in the IT field can have ISP that offer regualr speeds around 712kbps compared to India's 256 bottleneck since 2 years now, 'tis a matter of shame, Lazy government that doesn't want to work, soft people that don't want to demand.

and is not something that would be remarkably changed by the introduction of a sh*tty ISP like AOL.[/b]

oh it will, wait and watch. If AOL is smart enough to bring in over high speeds levelling 1mbps, you would have AOL take oveer a heavy share in the ISP business faster than you can say 'Holy Cheese slices Batman!'

If you think our customer service is bad, and our ISPs follow sketchy practices, then wait till you see AOL!!!![/b]

If customer service is really that bad, its really doesn't matter. MTNL, BSNL, heck almost ever ISP has trained its customers to such an extend we can't be bugged by any level of low level customer support.

Put short, AOL comes, introduces speeds in MBPS for around 1.5-3k, it gains, other international ISP' come or the Indian ISP's finally stop gambling in all the money we proudly have been giving them without any questions and start laying The Real Broadband.

Well its my opinion anyways, you've got no way to prove it wrong until and unless it happens, so try not to make yourself look retared by calling others retard.

I do know one thing about AOL. Vincent Ferrari.

And I know some more about them. They are moving out of ISP business because cable companies are kicking their asses. people hate them coz they charge like 20 dollars to let them keep their AOL mail ids. google bought 5% of them. Yahoo! and MSN are considering acquiring them. in short, no one in the USA likes AOL much.

about aol software...

aol browser is a pain in the ass. aol aim messenger sucks. even rediff bol is less irritating than that.

aol's only decent application i think is the active virus shield which is powered by kesperesky engine.

check out aol openride. u would know how bad their software are.

I never thought that I would see the day where someone lists AOL's browser as one of their plus points!!!! hahaha!!!

@params7, you really should watch those Vincent Ferrari videos.

I really couldn't give a sh*t whether my ISP "has its own browser, one of the largest messaging services today, large database of movies and music information" because there are a whole lot of other places on the internet that provide all that, and I might add, a whole lot better than AOL!

And as far as speeds go, I am very very skeptical that they would be come in and provide speeds in "MBPS".

What I was merely criticizing was the sentiment that something is automatically better by virtue of it being American, (or even Indian for that matter). There are plenty of things that Americans do better than us (South Park being on the top of that list 🙂 ), but there are similarly many things they have that are total cr*p (Bush, AOL and the American Media all being fairly prominent in that list).

And I really must apologize if I made myself "look retared by calling others retard". That was really not my intention. Mogambo is not happy today.
