Today I submitted application for porting from BSNL to Idea in a local shop. He charged me Rs.80 for the SIM. I think that is ridiculously high for number porting. Please let me know, if anyone porting to Idea has paid so much. If not, how much did you pay recently. When I asked him, he told was earlier it was Rs.30 and now due to some rule changes it has been increased.

last i heard it was 19 😕 but that was long time ago.

I recently ported my bsnl no to vodafone and i was charged rs. 19 for the sim....(from vodafone store)but some mnp sim are costlier cos they might provide some balance after activationmy friend ported to airtel and the sim costed him around rs. 50 incl. rs 30 talktime....

Some operators don't charge you for the sim, and the ones that do charge 19, if they charge more than 19, the rest is to be credited as talktime.

19 bucks is of course the higher limit. operators are free to charge anything below it.

@ zero7 isn't the mrp printed on the sim kit??

MRP: Nil value is printed on the Sim kit. I think I got cheated by the shop. Will call customer service and see what is it....

It was 19 when I had ported from Idea to Aircel and the same when I ported from Aircel to Vodafone. I was told it was 19, but in both cases, wasn't charged anything.

2 months back i ported from Uninor to Vodafone & Aircel to Airtel. Both Vodafone & Airtel charged Rs.5 only and that too i got back as it is credited to the account.

I called the Customer Service and they told me that charges are 0. So, I got cheated by the shop in Whitefield, Bangalore 🙁 There is no receipt also. Just believed the shop keeper and paid Rs. 80... I should have done my homework well. Will wait for the porting to go through and then I"ll talk to him.

After getting rejected first time, and multiple follow up with dealer second application got accepted and I am in Idea network now. Pretty happy with the network in my area now.

Idea is pretty decent when it comes to services and coverage..my experience of 7-8 years...!!
