Having qualified sixth ahead of team-mate Fernando Alonso in eighth, Ferrari broke the seal on Massa's gearbox to relegate him five places and leave Alonso on the clean side of the grid in seventh. After an impressive recovery drive to fourth that Massa described as "like a victory", he admitted he was not so happy ahead of the race.

'I did the right thing for the team' - Felipe Massa | Formula 1 | Formula 1 news, live F1 | ESPN F1

wtf!

vettel is 13 points ahead with one race to go. damn.

Ferrari are just banking on RBRs reliability issue...I am sure in Brazil Vettel will finish ahead of Alonso unless any reliability issues occur for Vettel's car...One critical thing abuot Sao Paulo is that weather...as of now the weather forecast suggests that it could rain on Saturday and Sunday....if it rains in Sao Paulo it would be a lottery to any body...

So Massa sacrifices his position again. 2nd time in last 3 to 4 races.Previously Ferrari asked him not to pass Alonso even if he was matching speed of Vettel. It would have been great, if some other top 5 driver also had gearbox problem. That wud mean Alonso goes back to dirty side of the track! 😀 Unfortunately that did not happen 🙁

More importantly the tactics worked in favour of both Massa and Alonso...this is the best result which they have achieved if they had started from 1st row of the grid or the 2nd row of the grid...

Well Massa was clearly faster than Alonso. He also set 2 to 3 fastest laps.

Massa is quicker than Alonso too but 10s behind his team-mate

He was 11th and on dirty side. Yet he managed to close on to Alonos overtaking 7 cars infront.

Which means even Alonso cud have over-taken the other cars.

They should have let Massa be 6th and he could possibly have chased down Vettel. If he could not have, he could have given back position to Alonso.

But well I guess thats a different view. Everything has ifs and buts

Ferrari just don't have the pace to catch RB ..They will always pay the catching game .. But in the hindsight the decision by ferrari (to break seal of Massa's gearbox) seemed correct ..

You know why Ferrari had done this and their decision paid off well for alonso's championship....More over even if Massa had started 6 on the grid max to max he could have attained the 3rd position....as Vettel and Hamilton had the fastest car...Hamilton could not overtake Vettel for many laps...thanks to Karthikeyan which made it easier for Hamilton to overtake Vettel at the 43rd or 44th lap then vettel tried to over take Hamilton but in vain...Regarding fastest lap its just good to have it for record purpose...Vettel won many races last year and i guess he had fastest lap of the race only in 1 or 2 races out of 20 races...Regarding last race Ferrari fitted a new diffuser in Alonso's car which didnt work where as Massa was running the car with older diffuser hence he was faster than Alonso...So ferrari has to go for Massa's spec what they had it in Austin Race for both of them in Brazil ...wish to see Massa to take the pole for Brazilian GP...

Massa to take pole? U need to be realistic ..They should consider themselves lucky even if they start from row 3-4 .. I would so love if iceman is kicking the ferrari's butt again at brazil ..

Massa is always at different level when he is driving in Sao Paulo for sure .... the car may not be quicker but i am expecting him to be in row 2 of the grid...

Narain Karthikeyan has defended himself following another on-track incident with Sebastian Vettel in Austin. The HRT driver was accused of holding up his Red Bull rival in the opening sector, just moments before Lewis Hamilton stole the lead.

However, Karthikeyan says he was simply driving to Race Director Charlie Whiting's instructions, with backmarkers told to move out of the way after Turn 8.

"I cannot listen to this nonsense any more," Karthikeyan is quoted as saying by Auto Motor und Sport. "In the drivers' briefing, Charlie said we do not have to let any one past in the twisty section of the first sector. It is simply not possible, because apart from the ideal line it is extremely dirty.

"Charlie told us that we should let the faster drivers pass after Turn 8, the first slow corner after the fast section. So that's what I did. Vettel was also present at the briefing, has he sometimes not been listening? He does this too often and it's too intense. Slowly, I'm starting to get tired of it."

Karthikeyan and Vettel memorably collided during this year's Malaysian Grand Prix, with the two-time Champion coming off worse and picking up a left-rear puncture.

Even if Massa can win (unlikely assumption), Ferrari wont let him win 😀Because they will ask him to make way for Alonso.
