It was rooted WAY before Jellybean even came out for it, officially.
I flashed it with the Cynus T2 JB ROM that was leaked a few months ago before Micromax officially released it.
Besides, he can't do without Titanium Backup Pro (which needs superuser permissions).

Oh okay. Actually I installed jellybean for two friends without getting the warranty being void. So felt that your friend may be in the same boat as them who care a lot about the warranty.
