As we know Traffic congestion is a growing problem in Greater Pune (Pune, Pimpri and Chinchwad). The problem has been accentuated by the lack of even & convenient bus transport systems.
Ironically, Greater Pune has more private vehicles than the megapolis of Mumbai.
Solution - An increase in number of public buses with greater frequency periods will certainly encourage more Puneites to use public transport, thereby decreasing the traffic levels in the city.
In order to make this happen, several business houses, NGO along with PMC has come forward for Public Private Partnership to work for this cause.
The project plans to supplement the existing 1,500 strong bus fleet of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) with an additional 1,500 buses on Thursday, November 1, 2012.
