So, I try to finish off my data quota on the last day of the billing cycle. Yesterday was it so I had my download manager at full blast till midnight yesterday.

I just saw my Airtel SmartBytes page right now and noticed that they seem to have added my usage before midnight to the usage for the new billing cycle.

As per my own download counter, I have downloaded less than 200MB of data since midnight today. According to Airtel I have consumed 3.2 GB.

My Airtel website is not showing the usage for today right now.

I have sent a complaint and would update what happens.

The same thing happened to me at the start of the current billing cycle. I started at 146.49 GB. I didn't bother to raise any complaint as I know reclaiming false data usage is well nigh impossible with Airtel.

Smart Byte and Unbilled usage shows different readings for me alsoSmart Bytes = 20.45 GBUnbilled page = 17191860 KB

unbilled usage is bogus. it was still showing 135GB in the morning for me. pretty much 24 hour old data.

still no response to my complaint. and this is what i am getting right now on my 4mbps connection. has become usual with them. ping drops are regular. speed drops are regular. and now they are stealing bandwidth.

i got a sms confirmation when i submitted the form. today i got a sms with the name of the person along with his contact details. i guess since i submitted the form of friday, i would only be contacted on monday. no hurries coz i would only get airtel disconnected once the bsnl is installed and activated. i plan to consume the bandwidth on my airtel plan before asking for a disconnection. i am assuming that they would charge me on a pro-rata bases ignoring the bandwidth consumed. in any case, they are going to do the usual. charge me some weird fees or disconnect my connection at a later date. so why not consume the connection properly before asking for a disconnection.

can anyone explain this to me? this is the only information that their backend provides me regarding internet usage.

1 unit = 10 kilo byte

i meant timing. does it show that i consumed 3.2 GB of data between midnight and 3am on 5th October?

not getting you the first report is at around 4:26 am. what i remember from 4th night. i started downloading at around 9pm. i had around 2GB of data left for that billing cycle. i went to sleep after setting alarm for midnight. i woke up for a couple of moments just after 12 midnight to shut down the computer. woke up at around 3am again. and saw that 3.2GB was gone from my account. my own bandwidth monitor shows that i had downloaded just around 180MB after midnight on 5th morning when i checked the usage details. are you saying that airtel counted my usage from 4th night into 5th just because i did not restart the modem at around midnight?also. i do not restart my modem for days. i do it when my connection is behaving weirdly. so basically... the counter should be continues unless of course airtel goes down and the modem restarts by itself 😕

That image shows your usage from 04:26 on OCT 5. Your usage between midnight and 04:26 will be part of the previous session. If you hadn't downloaded anything during this period or if you had shut down your computer, then there should be no usage.BTW, I didn't know you have decided yo get your Airtel connection disconnected and go for BSNL. What plan are you going for?
