Will Relocation Cost Me Rs 1000?

Hi, i might shift to a new city after 6 months.... the Tata Sky helpdesk said in the new city i need to pay rs 1000 for installation. is it that expensive, just to repoint the dish and set my stb running again? 🙁

You should be able to do it on your own, if you are handy with your tools. Main thing is to fasten the dish firmly to the wall or parapet. Some masonary work is usually required. 1000 bucks is too much for such a small job. I am sure soon other people, maybe DishTV guys, will do it for Rs 200 or less. DishTV people charge 200 right now. You might ask some DISHTV lads at a shop or so.
But remember, your address details at Tata Sky will remain unchanged. So if you are in Bombay, you will continue to NOT get HBO and Star Movies even after you moved out. So this option is splly good if one is moving to Mumbai but not if one is moving out of Mumbai.
Also may face problems if a problem arises and you need service. So you may have to hurriedly inform of change of address then, and ending up paying 1000 buck you thought you saved. But a lot of people take STB outside India too, without informing TataSky (obviously).
I think its well worth the risk to get it installed by others for Rs 200 or so. Most people abroad do such stuff on their own.

as per Tata Sky terms and conditions. u have to inform them abt change in location. if u fail to do so they can disconnect the service provided.well but who cares!! lol

well Tata Sky is new. and i dont think any1 who planned to change house recently would have gone for DTH. even if some1 did, chances are remotethat they would be on this board.

Is it really Rs. 1000? I had asked the guy who installed it in my place and he told me it would cost Rs.200 intra-city to dismantle the dish and install it in the new location.

well honestly reinstalling the dish is not a hard job

it should not be. just check with local guys. they might be able to help ya out for 100-200 bucks...

Yeah but I don't tihnk they would do as good a job as a Tata Sky person.

I heard, Dishtv ppl uninstall the dish for Rs. 50 and install in another city for Rs. 50. This makes the relocation cost to Rs. 100. And Tata Sky is claiming to do it in Rs. 1000!!!!Where is the competitive spirit TataSky???? This will just cause more people in not reportin gtheir address change to TataSky.Has anybody experienced a relocation of TataSky setup? How do you find local people who can install a Tata Dish?

Waveking , i seriously doubt that Tata Sky would charge so high for relocation. Besides i don't think dishtv can do it for only 100 Rs. A cost of 300 Rs is more appropriate.
