Which Stb And Dish?

Hi,I have finally decided to jump into the DTH bandwagon. I am curently paying Rs. 360 pm for cable wallah, which sometimes has bad quality, and i am not getting HBO.My question is, do I have an option in what STB brand to choose, if one is better than the other?Also, anything to keep in mind while getting the dish, like choosing it or how to get it installed etc.?Thanks.
 
U only have the choice of selecting the DTH service provider i.e. Tata Sky or DISH TVRest every thing is in their hand 😀 😀 😀
 
Which Stb you got qazranchi ? Can you please post a image of signal test ?
 
u dont have option to select STB. u have to use STB given by DTH provider.as far as i know, dish tv STB is on rent and Tata Sky STB are ur own.MODS:when i checked this forum's topic list, it was showing 2 replies and 0 views forthis topic! how can it be possible?
 
topic views are updated after a while. i changed some settings sometime ago when the forum was consuming too many resources.

Anirudh, i have not yet opened my box, but my dealer sai its a Thomson one. my connection will be installed on 18th, so only then can i pos a signal test screenshotAmish, i just read the contract. it says, on deactivation of service Tata Sky reserves the right to collect back the device 🙁
 

ohhh... so even tata ppl hide somethings... didnt expect that.how can they say they reserve right to collect STB when they havealready taken 3000rs from us for it? some1 go to consumer courtor better try TRAI!
 
IMO, customers should be allowed to choose / buy their own STBs. The STBs we are getting now are obviously manufactured based on a overriding deciding factor, COST. So we get what can only be described as technologically impoverished STBs. So let them give us the cards and we will buy a better STB / DVR 😛 . Maybe, just maybe... by sometime in 2007...
 
exactly i was abt to ask the question within a moment.if i go for Tata Sky.. do they offer me option of which STB?humax or thomson?after bad reports abt thomson.. i am going to insist on humaxor no tatasky! LOL
 
i am not going for it soon. would wait 2 more months. unless they comeup with really cool scheme and tempt me. let MTNL announce few morechannels then we will see. plus CAS would come in meantime too.
