as the record show there inst been much trafic , my friend said he doesnt get much time , cause he spends most of the time at office , the BSNL guy recomended my friend to go for home 500 then. lol

Ask your friend immediately to change his password. He could have seen his service records by logging in and suggested him that way.. I am sure your friend has never changed the password in his life time. Or your friend must be lying... NO other way

Hmmm . That sounds a bit scarry , would tell him to do that

u have a dynamic ip, it wouldnt make sense for the local exchange to keep records of watever sites u have visited and all that.. bsnl does indeed have records of wat ip address was assigned to which account for wat duration so for instance if some website complains that it was hacked from a particular ip address and complains to bsnl providing them with an ip address then they may indeed find out which account was using the ip address at that particular time.. i suspect that this would not be a simple thing to do.. and is certainly not in the hands of ur local exchange... it might be a capability posessed by bsnl but NOT by the local exchange.. the local exchange cannot track you down and i know someone posted bsnl's terms of use here, they can legally track you, it is a farfetched scenario.. it might happen in case u were stalking someone on the internet or cracking into websites but certainly not for downloading pirated stuff.. everybody here downloads pirated stuff.. well almost everybody and to track each of them down would not be possible.. and certainly not at the behest of the local exchange.. relax.. puja was kidding and the other guys here are pulling ur leg too...edit: finding out the usage of someone is one thing, this is a capability that the bsnl portal posesses, finding out what websites they have visited and what not is an entirely different matter.. stop scaring the poor kid..

Relax. BSNL doesn't have so much free time to monitor your activities on the internet and neither is it possible to track every person. And your local exchange, certainly not. You needn't worry.

lol 😀

in kolkata does the central telephone head office has those controls or the corporate office in delhi[BSNL NIB] has those controls?

anything involving snooping on a user would have to be approved by the main delhi office i guess.. and i think bsnl could monitor what u download after they recieve such a complaint.. not before.. so if ure that paranoid i guess just avoid downloading any illegal stuff from now on..

Well said. Yes it is only in case of a far fetched scenario that BSNL looks for any such activity. The local office has no control over this particular issue. It is assured. No doubts.

The question of terms of use. I posted them only to make him aware of what he signed up. Nothing else. As pushkar in the last post said "No body has time to peep into other's browsing habbits". True.

BSNL does not police the browsing habbits of the subscribers. There is no second thought about this. However, as ogrtipleog rigthly said "They are capable of doing it when the situation demands." The situation could be to track a misuse case, a cracking case or some illegal activity etc.. Not otherwise.

As ogtripleog rightly said "It is not a simple thing also".

It would be against the privacy laws if they happen to monitor unless asked to do so by taking the permission of a law court.

well yea we do just have da right just that noones gonna enforce it lol but anyway isnt monitoring individual downloads too much even for india? if they had such resources, wouldnt they have been able to prevent the kargil war 😛

Never worry bout downloading illegal stuff.Every guy using unlimited plan(also night unlimited plans) just heads straight to illegal websites for downloading porno or commercial stuff.I always see the peers' ip list in my torrent client and i have seen 59.92.x.x , 59.93.x.x , 59.144.x.x(Airtel) in almost all the torrents i download.once i even went to this site http://www.maxmind.com/app/locate_ip and tried to find the place where these guys living by entereing their IPs.And it gives the exact details of that address.Even right now im downloading Ill3gal stuffs 😀 .Approximately 2.5 million people in India would have to be sentenced to imprisonment if they catch people who download those.😛

Hey dont worry , do what u want on internet. They dont have time for providing regular services to bsnl customers will they do this? and they even dont know how to track u except higher ups. They dont care as thats not part of their job.
