Hi,I have age old airtel beetle installed on my system. I have been getting frequent disconnections with attached wifi (Netgear) which I manually configured. There are times when wifi works without any issue for hours at a stretch however, there are also times when the wifi connectivity is temporary. I see "!" mark on my laptop more often than not.The interesting point is, on desktop with which modem is attached to, internet works just fine. I am not sure whether it's time to replace Beetle modem, wifi router or there's something wrong with Airtel itself. I called Airtel CC and engineer told me that modem is fried but I don't get it. How is it possible that internet works fine on desktop and not via wifi?Any response will be appreciated 🙂

Let me guess Netgear router WGR614. Apparently routers too sort of decay over period of time and if it is a old router its quite possible that its wireless frequencies might be interrupting with the wirelss of other home devices say cordless phone. In my case changing the router worked

Using Netgear N150. Yes, I do have a cordless phone nearby. But I have been told modern routers aren't really affected by such disruptions. I guess I am wrong. Anyhow, should I get a new router or place this one away from cordless?

Thanks for reply 🙂

Since your desktop is attached to Airtel's modem and the internet works just fine on it as you stated. This is NOT Airtel's problem. It could be your router or the laptop or router config or even the drivers for the wireless in your OS. Try re-installing them. But it is not Airtel because your internet works fine without the router.
