^^^ Finally some news from MTNL, though it does not give any information specially the Tariff and cost of STB's.And they are rolling out tomm... 😛MTNL must be the only provider who rolls out service first and then releases information in this age of marketing and advertisement....

it still is better than what microsoft do. they announce a product. keep revealing mroe on what itt would. then delays would happen. then more delays would happen.and if ever they manage to launch the product, it would no where near the product they had promised in the first place. i like the Apple's approach. launch the product, tell what they are delivering. and let the consumer judge for itself. sorry for comparing it with software/hardware companies.

man I understand they both start with M but Microsoft and Mtnl comparison??? 🙁

Sushubh u must have never spoken to MTNL customer care aunties on 1504, I am damn sure... 😛

BTW Vista seems to be on time, whether it lives up to the expectations is a diff story but the last version released before they proceed to RTM is very stable and good.

i think the saturday date must be their first testing.. dont think they can launch so early.. they dont have enough modems.. how can they have stbs ready

randomboy:

we hope the performance is same as mtnl broadband. i.e. as stable.
then we dont much depend on linemen.

because setup should be same.
mtnl wire goes to spliter then to STB/broadband modem and then to
TV/computer.

cyberwiz:

its going to be same with cable once CAS comes into effect in jan 2007.
u will need multiple stbs and will have to pay for each tv with cable as well.

i remember when mtnl broadband was launched, they launched in jan start and said first 1 month free.
because they were new and testing it.

may be same would be the case with iptv. real rollout of service would be after say abt a month

my broadband and telephone lines are already in their(MTNL) hands 🙁..
why dont MTNL start with Life Insurance plans 😛

found that they will start the service at the rate of 300 Rs. per month 🙁..

more info about MTNL's IPTV is available on Non-MTNL website 😛

lol. u mean entertainment insurance plan.well actually mtnl is no more what it was earlier.its tel lines are much better than reliance, tata landlines.all my relatives who have/had reliance-tata lines are makingcomplaints. none of them have ever said its better than MTNL.infact MTNL lines work even with powerfailure. MTNL instrumentsdont degrade over time or are cheaply available.2 to 3 times my tel problems were solved in 10mins after complaint.once within a minute after filing complaint on 198/1500 i got a call backfrom exchange! that was a pleasant shocker!iol broadband is actually the one who will provide iptv service and reqed STBs.mtnl has tie-up with them

if the rates (tariff) is good then i will soon make a jump to IPTV..cause its better technology than DTH and Cable

All those who are interested should fill this form LOL never find it on mtnl site!!

http://www.iolbroadband.com/iptv/
[/b]

the problem is they have not mentioned which channels they will show at start.
what is installation cost, stb cost, is stb available on rent? what are monthly charges?

etc.

iptv and dth both are digital technology.

i dont think iptv would be better than dth (in picture quality).
