Hi guys i have an mtnl internet connection with its rented modem. I bought a wifi router TP-Link WR740N last month to connect my android phone with it. The problem i am having is that sometimes i can open all websites on my phone with wifi but sometimes though i can open most of the sites i cant open some sites like youtube and google play store and sometimes though sites like youtube and play store open i cant open videos and download apps from there. I called the customer care of TP Link and they told me to set the mtu size to 576 but that didnt help either. So any solutions for this?

Maybe your wireless encryption settings need to be changed? Use WPA2 & try shifting to a different channel on your router.

My case was slightly different. Some Apps could not connect to the internet on wifi, while others could. Changing the DNS to Google's DNS solved this issue.

I am already using wpa2 encryption and have set the channel to auto. Also there arent any other wifi connections in the vicinity because my laptops or my phone havent catched any till now.

Yeah i remember i got this dns error on my desktop sometime ago when my desktop wasnt opening a particular website though i dont remember if it was connected to the router then.
So this might be the problem. The issue I am having is that I cant sometimes view youtube videos niether with youtube app nor through opening the videos through browser.

So can i set the router to use google's dns and use mtnl's dns in the modem at same time because i dont want to mess up the settings in the modem?

Changing the DNS wouldn't really cause any issue. I am not aware of TP-Link's configuration but you should be able to switch back to MTNL's DNS should there be an browsing issue.

well i am new to this so can you tell me if i have to change dns server in both router and modem or can i just change the dns server in router and not in modem because my desktop is connected to the modem directly and if i have rarely gotten any issue with the internet on my desktop and havent ever accessed the settings on my modem either.

change where ever you find dns options ... in adsl router/wifi/LAN/ anywhere.... you see dns for better results.I am saying this for new users. advance users know what to do where.
