Is it worth upgrading to 4mbps or 8mbps on Airtel Broadband?

I have been on 2mbps unlimited plan with FUP of 30gb @ 1199 + tax for over a year now. I dont download stuff. I dont use torrents either. I use it mainly for streaming media(movies,videos) on Youtube and such like sites. I have no complaints apart from a few streaming sites where it buffers slowly (If above 480p).Airtel has now come out 3 new plans- 1) 2mbps with 30gb FUP @1050 , 2) 4mbps with 40gb FUP @1150 and 8mbps with 60gb FUP @1250. While the 8mbps plan sounds like great VFM, i am skeptical if it would serve my purpose(correct me if i am wrong). Because i download nothing. So does it make sense to upgrade to 8 or 4 plan ? Or should i retain my 2 mbps speed which is now available at a lower price ?
 
speeds over 4mbps would not be very relevant to youtube etc. so focus on getting more bandwidth than speed.
 
Yes. 4mbps makes a huge difference if you want to watch HD videos on Youtube. So, go for 4mbps. Worry about 8mbps later.
 
I just upgraded to 8Mbps on Airtel . Not much difference in terms of browsing speeds. But downloading files take half the time as on 4 Mbps
 
I'm in Adyar. Airtel has 8Mbps only in select parts of the city I think. I'm my office in OMR, they can't upgrade beyond 2Mbps it seems. Which area are you in ?
 

Apparently in an area where they can't provide 8mbps even though it's a prime residential area in Chennai. 😕It looks like your previous post in this thread got lost in space. And that makes my earlier post look random.

Can you do a speedtest with a Chennai server?
 
Chennai servers are not too good at this time .. shows wrong speed . Did a real world test for you

Get about 1MB/s download speed

What pings do you get to google.com?
