Micromax launches Pixel A90 smartphone at Rs 12,990 - Tech News - IBNLive

Micromax has launched a new phone - Pixel A90 - which has a 4.3-inch Super-AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 800x480 pixels. It runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. It is a dual-SIM phone, which is powered by a 1 GHz processor.

Priced at Rs 12,990, the phone has an 8 megapixel CMOS rear camera with LED flash, and a 0.3 megapixel front camera.

The A90 smartphone comes packed with a 1600 mAh battery, which Micromax says offers a talk time of 5 hours and a standby time of 174 hours.

A90 Pixel comes pre-loaded with Aisha, Micromax's voice-recognition software.

The phone has an internal memory of 4GB, which is expandable up to 32GB using a microSD card. The phone has 1 GB RAM.

the specs looks same as any high end smartphone except with low CPU, internal memory, lower bluetooth version and nothing is said about the GPU if it's Nvidia, Mali-400MP, PowerVX or Adreno cause if you wanna play any HD games or do any graphics intensive apps Nvidia or Mali-400MP is a must, lower end GPU cannot handle any 3D apps or games but nevertheless the price tag is really good.:Boy Thumb Up:

Highly interested, although the interface might keep me at bay. Possible to flash vanilla android?

It basically runs vanilla ICS with a few Micromax apps preinstalled. If you do a factory reset on the device even those apps will be deleted. Then its just plain vanilla ICS. Micromax doesn't put in an effort to customize the Android UI on their devices like other manufacturers do. I guess it helps keep their costs down.

Well, I think those preloaded apps wouldn't be deleted if you factory reset as it's located in /system.

Nope.. A factory reset will delete them as they are not stock android apps. They are add ons by Micromax.

Just used ics on a desire C today. Smooth as butter. That's vanilla? Looks horrible, maybe its the video. I thought they put on some skin. Gotta be the video, poor quality. Will check it out once its in the market.

Unless we root and remove /system apps... whatever we do will not remove pre-installed apps. Those apps are not in user area instead it is in *System* area which will not be removed via factory reset. And Micromax heavily customize the UI and launcher. I do have A52 which I find very difficult to navigate after using my Galaxy Nexus.

My dad purchased this phone today. I have been playing it for around 2 hours now and it does look pretty good. The build quality is SUPERB and the design is extremely good too. Resembles quite a lot to the Galaxy S2.The AMOLED display is fantastic, multi-tasking is also pretty good till now. The loudspeaker volume is not up to the mark, similar to the Galaxy Note, it's not too loud but the playback on headphones is very good. AISHA works pretty well too, it recognizes the words correctly and quickly but the replies are disappointing. For example, I asked 'When was Sachin Tendulkar born' and I got a reply saying that he was born in 1973. The exact date was not given. Then I asked 'Who is Rahul Dravid', it recognized the words correctly but the reply was a huge paragraph on philosophy of life!!!The camera is also nice. I haven't taken many pics yet but from my little experience so far, the pictures are pretty good. Haven't tested micro focussing yet.And due to the AMOLED display, it's viewing angles are fantastic. The display is as good as any high-end device.Overall, it's a pretty solid device for this price. Highly impressed. I love stock ICS UI and so it doesn't disappoint there either.

Too bad Micromax doesnt have too much money and Apple probably knows it (If at all it cares). Otherwise Micromax would have been sued for "cloning" the "clone" 😀
