Hi there, I am currently thinking of using Beam broadband but after reading Beam’s forum it seems that there are a lot of disappointments. Before I go for Beam, I would like to know how its services like generally and especially in monsoon season (long downtime due to lightning strikes??). Another thing that I noticed from this forum is that Beam provides battery for power backup. Is it good? Does it really help when power is gone? Any experiences to share?

I haven't had any specific lengthy downtimes during the monsoons. If anything, its the usual downtime. The battery for me works for 3hours+. Beyond that it does dead. So if theres a powercut beyond 3 hours, I won't have internet. Has happened once.

For me i had login problems in the beginning of this month. Internet was on but beam's shitty service was not accepting my login details. Called them and they sent a technician to my home and he suggested that he'll convert my connection into 24hour online connection. So from then on ..my net is always on and no more login page for me 🙂 Battery backup ..they claim they provide battery backup but my net connection dies the moment there's a power cut. Told them of this problem and they said they'll rectify it but still haven't done so. I dont have inverter at my home so no need of battery back up for me. If you want battery backup ..ping them on their facebook page and they'll reply it. TL😀R; If you're a business customer ..think twice and do some research like going to a company that has beam and asking them about the uptime. Home user who doesn't mind 6~8 hours downtime per month can opt for beam as the speeds are awesome. They provide advertised speeds. Even though there were a couple of days when its raining heavily ..beam worked fine as long as there is no power cut.

I knew from a friend that Beam's internet setting is automatic which means that it can be done without on-site visit by a technician. I was wondering that did you buy your own dsl device or use the one leased from Beam???
