Since on sify am facing a weird problem in my Outlook Express. I can't access the Hotmail mails anymore in that. It sure can download the headers but not the complete mails. When i click on any mail, it just says...

Message could not be displayed
Outlook Express encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this message. Check your computer for low memory or low disk space and try again.

Neither memory nor space is the issue here.

In addition to this, when i try to check the mails on the website, it also gives me a message and it goes on like this...

...and two buttons below "Download Internet Explorer" and "Continue Using Hotmail" when i'm already using the IE6 only, Version: 6.0.2800.1106.

My woes don't end here. If i do "Continue Using Hotmail" i can go ahead and check my mails, but if i do "Download Internet Explorer" it redirects me to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/default.mspx but there also i can't download anything, it just sits there on the update page.

In addition, when i go ahead and check my mail, i can't empty my "Junk Mail" folder. The page comes up with "Error on page" message on the left bottom corner of the explorer window though the pop-up "Are you sure that you want to empty your junk mail folder?" does come up. But even if i do "Yes" it will again sit there quietly and not do anything.

I'm kinda fed up with this problem and can't take it anymore coz i really don't want to go to the site and check my mail when i can check all of them in my Outlook.

Can anyone help?

Are you paying for Hotmail? If not could you post a screenshot of your settings in Outlook?

from what i know hotmail's free access from outlook express is history.

Yeah using a gmail account (or any pop enabled e-mail service but I like gmail 🙂 ) and Opera together is probably the fastest way to send and read e-mail. Opera has a shortcut key ctrl+E to write mail and you can send it right away! No waiting to sign in and all that which in itself is not particularly new but it's great to have that in a browser. Ask for an invite if you want one.

no...am not paying for hotmail and it works prefectly fine in my office...i've got two other Hotmail IDs synchronized to my office PC and they work perfectly fine...never faced any problem...and as far i know hotmail can never go paid for accessing it in Outlook as both of them are Microsoft's babies...they can't take money for that...that's what i think, i may be wrong... 🤔

as far as i know hotmail discontinued mails thru outlook a good few months back

its technology. its supposed to have faults. feel happy that ur account still has not been blocked from outlook access. my hotmail is still 2megs while it should be 250megs. my yahoo is still 250megs while it is supposed to be 1gig.

well, in that case this technology sure has big snags...coz i can very well configure the same account that i'm unable to access in my Home PC, in my office PC...wonder how that's happening...anyhow, any idea about the second problem of asking me to get latest IE when i have the latest one already???

About your IE problem, in my opinion try running an anti-spyware/adware/browser-hijacker app because IE attracts them a lot and that might be the cause of your problems.

I would recommend you scan using Spybot Seach and Destroy, Adaware and CWShredder. Also get and install Spywareblaster to prevent against future malware getting hold of your IE and consider using a browser other than IE, like Firefox and Opera.
