The number of cell phone and cdma towers in the cities has gone up very rapidly in the last one or two years. Almost every 3 to 4 storey+ building seems to have some tower or other. We the people are living under them! Does anyone here know if:1. There are any online standards for safe radiation levels (link please)2. There is any agency to independently assess the radiation levels for compliance 3. There is any forum to voice your concern so someone will hearMore and more people are getting concerned about having themselves "microwaved", even though gsm is just short of 1Ghz. but these voices are still feeble. In countries with economic limitations, it would be easy to tempt people to give up health concerns in return for basic necessities like food clothing and shelter.

Is there any conclusive proof out there to confirm what you state ?It seems every year they come out with conflicting proof either way.The sales of mobile phones contines unabated everywhere.Maybe in 50 yrs they will come with a label that says "Injurious to health"

Another aspect to consider:1. Do you use a microwave?2. Do you use a WiFi device or modern Cordless phone (thse phones work on 2.4 - 5.2 GHz) These devies give much more "microwave" and will "cook" our brains faster. I think Cell signals are limited to 2 - 3 watts at max. Feeble as compared to microwave oven.

what if we are livin right next to a tower...... will it not hav more power than 2-3 watts

IF there was a leak with the oven yes, it would cook your brains, otherwise its in a self contained box, no microwaves get out at all.

No cooking of brains is happening here (given the absence of any conclusive proof) whatsoever.

Just brains cooking up ways to get attention by scaring people with pseudo-science.

You should be more afraid of terrorism and corruption LOL

Thats the point.

My laptop gets some interference in WiFi when it is close to Microware (both operate in 2.4 Ghz 'microwave' range). So I suspect that Microwave ovens are not completly insulated. And no one raises a cry about that (imaginary)'brain cooking'.

Actually, some residents of a nearby multistorey housing complex expressed concern when there was a move to install one or two rooftop towers. we are talking about a 24X7 exposure as against the intermittent radiation of a microwave oven. In fact i really wonder whether we can afford to be complacent re microwave ovens either.

But my problem is about legislation. I really wanted to know if anyone here was aware of any published standards and such for this

There are strict standards for radiation and usage of radio spectrum. However, like everything else, they are not enforced. If you turn on diagnostics in your Nokia cell phone, it is not uncommon to see same frequencies being used in adjacent cells; at least that can be seen in Mumbai and Bangalore.

Cell towers usually adhere to most restrictive standards so that they can sell the same equipment to maximum number of countries.

FCC's site (http://www.fcc.gov) or TRAI's or Department of Telecom's should have those standards for GSM towers.

What would u ppl do if WiMax becomes operational 😀 . Wimax uses kinda same concept like this . A big tower covers a area of 8000 KM to provide broadband service B)

OoOoOoH Boy!!!

A year ago, a number of Mobile towers came up across our street and everybody in the office complained of headaches, high stress levels and we could not concentrate on our work.

We were suggested to install 3 mm Lead sheets on our windows and walls facing these towers and we were successful in keeping out the damaging radiation. Although we shut off daylight and the view, that was the only way we could survive.

Now our builder put up 4 different mobile masts clandestinely on a Sunday, just above our roof and we are back to Severe headaches, some have muscle twitching, “Noise” on our computer monitors and High Stress levels. By noon, most of us are as tired as working all day.

We laid Lead sheets on our roof, but this time the result was not sufficient to save us, probably because the distance from the mast to us was just 4 meters.

We request information from any person having Technical or Legal information to help us get these towers removed from our roof.
