Hi,
I recently got Tata Indicom Broadband on Metro Ethernet in Mumbai. Package is 256 unlimited.
Connection speed is quite good. But I am not able to use Bit Torrent.
Earlier I had MTNL Triband and I was able to configure ports in the Router's configuration pages. But since Tata is on Ethernet (no Router), Where do I configure my open ports for Torrent Clients?
I called Tata helpline and they assured me that they have kept all the ports open.

Because of no open ports and no incoming connection in Torrent clients, my upload speed is very low and my sharing ratio on different torrent sites is going down.

Has anyone faced the same problem?

Hey man, what client are yu using? I normally use uTorrent, but incase i have NAT issues which is what your probably facing *metro ethernet basically means 1 switch which redirects connections to different users* (i'd used a similar connection from hathway earlier, where i had an internal ip address and thus couldnt access outside ports!)

yeah so, you could try bitcomet, i know it is a semi leecher client, but many times it is one of the few clients that is able to get through NAT transversal issues.

PS : on another note, since i have signed up for the exact same plan & am probably gonna face the same problems, can yu please please please tell me what your ip address is like? i mean is it an internal one or an external.

internal ip addresses are like 192.168.xxx.xxx or 10.xxx.xxx.xxxx, maybe even 192.xxx.xxx.xxx

Please man, i hope u reply soon.

Hi,
dude im using their metroe connection , and i was right, the ip is 10.xxbakla... its assigned by a DHCP server

im using utorrent and my ports arent forwarded, but i can still upload at 25-30 and download at a similar rate.
actually downloads are a "lil" slower, maybe 18-25 for most "decent" torrents.

You guys can use Get your ports unblocked in Tata if u have a lan based conn (Metro-E), it can get your ports unblocked..
