I have an internet connection from galaxynet, a local cable internet provider in my region. They use 24online to connect. They installed 24online on my pc. Now, when I try to log in via their 24online client(the browser one", from any machine, it just says "You are not allowed to log in from this machine". I have tried both a wifi router and a direct connection. I want to use my D-Link dir-524 with it. They provided a static ip, so pppoe is not possible. I can only log in through the 24online desktop client on that specific pc, which disconnects me after 20 mins of no use on the pc. I can not keep my pc on all through the day, and want to log-in through other pcs. Any more info can be provided.

Such is the joy of MAC binding and tunnels. It's an awful, awful system, but it's easy enough to set up, so... yeah.

Anyway, 24Online does support PPPoE, so you can ask them to change the account type from IPoE to PPPoE at the backend, and reset the MAC binding so that you can use the router. And change your password (usually the ones most cable guys use are rubbish, like test1234).

Unfortunately I don't know what the addresses are for your ISP so I can't tell you exactly where to go: usually it would be https://ex.am.pl.e/myaccount.html (allows you to log in and see your account details irrespective of whether you can actually log in to the system and use the Internet) but your ISP's setup may or may not prevent this as well. And it would only work while you're directly plugged in (no router).

Anyway, like I said, you will need to get them to change a couple of things at the backend, then only on the router you will need to configure:
1. The static IP address they've given you
2. The username & password they give you
3. The service name for the ISP

Once you've got those variables correct, it should work fine.

I had already changed my password...they used my surname as my password 😕And, I asked the cable guys to change my account type....let's see what they do.Thanks for your help 🙂Now, they are asking how to change the account type to PPPoE. Can anyone help me?They are using 24online v8.Thanks
